The Nevada Athletic Commission unanimously approved morning weigh-ins Tuesday at its meeting after a proposal from the UFC. The change in procedure will be in place for International Fight Week, which encompasses UFC 200, The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale and UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Alvarez in July.

For those cards, fighters will be able to weigh-in between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. the day before the fight at the fighter hotel, rather than the usual time of 4 p.m. There will still be an afternoon "weigh-in" for broadcast where the official weights will be announced.

Damn good thing.

Hope it will always be like that from now on.

Guys like Jonhy Hendricks are completely fucked lmao

But I want to see how fighters look when they're dehydrated

Awesome. A bunch of five round fights on this card, and the last thing they need is fighters looking lethargic.

They should make the weigh ins a week before the fight.

Will the fighters still have to get into their pants? For no reason at all?

Hunt and Brock doing the battle of the 320ers then...

you don't understand what early weigh in means.
The weigh in is the day before the fight as usual, the only difference is that they do it in the early morning and in the hotel where the fighter has sleeped, in order to give more time to the fighters to rehydrate.

You've thought that this is a move in order to discourage weight cut, it's the opposite.

Ok I'm not sure why this is a good thing, doesn't this mean they just have more time to rehydrate? Therefore you will see guys trying to cut more weight?

Hunt is like oh Fuck yeah early breakfast buddeh!

All jokes aside I don't see any downsides to this unless someone can point them out to me.

Sounds like it's to be the norm for Zuffa events going forward.

Is that earlier than what California did? They started weigh ins at 10 a.m., right? Maybe I'm just remembering wrong.

It's a good thing because guys will be hydrated and in better shape come fight time.

Yeah i didn`t understand, thanks.

Ultimately this means guys should be willing to attempt even more heroic weight cuts. The big change here is you are required to be dehydrated for a smaller window, since you are not waiting around the arena for hours to be called to the stage.

So previously you needed to be on weight for several hours, now you perhaps only need to be on weight for minutes if you time it correctly.

I like the common sense of it - but without gravity tests this actually promotes more weight cutting.

So it's not really encouraging or discouraging weight cutting, it just makes it safer and less unhealthy for the fighters. Good.
