Watching the fight, it is obvious that the primary turn of events occured after the failed spinning kick.

This is often seen as the root cause of Weidman's collapse. But here is my issue with that. After the spinning kick was landed, Luke got back side control and took Weidman's back, rolled him over to back sitting and then top mount. Is to say that the spinning kick was Weidman's downfall to accept that if Luke gets an advantageous position on Weidman that he will outgrapple him? Weidman was not rocked until Luke secured a good position.

It's a position that Rockhold would have never attained without the error from Weidman. Rockhold is very slick in the scrambles/transitions, but he hasn't show the ability to initiate from the outside.

Giving up your back is huge mistake that can lead to all kinds of trouble, especially in the heavier weight classes and in the later rounds because it will be a lot harder to power out of bad positions.

Look at how lazy that kick was. Weidman was done

You have a good point. It's obvious Rockhold can grapple fuck the weid

Rockhold looked great AFTER he was gifted side control (which to his credit he maintained and mounted from there, I think he also had Chris' back at some point- jhe gets credit for all that)

BUT.... does Rockhold get to do ANY of that if Weidman doesn't throw that stupid kick and spot him side control?

The fight was very competitive up until that point. Rockhold was doing well, probably up slightly, but in no way dominating until that mistake, which he did a fantastic job of capitalizing on.

Also we have to factor in that Rockhold was only 70% because of whatever his excuse was involving antibiotics, but Weidman then informed us that he was only 30% because of a broken foot. ........ So Weidman has more room for improvement based on post fight excuse mathematics, which may be even more useful than MMath, so I've heard.

I am confused, was he going for a Spinning Back Kick or Spinning Hook Kick?

Rockhold was winning the fight before that ridiculous kick anyway, but that was a big flap from Weidman, I would/am going to feel very comfortable betting on Rockhold in the rematch regardless

You are 100% correct.
Good luck educating idiots.

Rockhold was getting his way throughout the fight, and the spin-kick was a product of that.

Weidman was gassed and was taking a pretty good beating when he threw that kick.. That kick was weak because he was gassed.

Desperate fighter attempting a desperate kick at a desperate time. Chris was fked long before desperation set in.

A great man once said that 90 percent of the fight game is half mental...

If Weidman can't fight smart, then if Tim Sylvia is to be believed, he's lost about 45 percent of the fight game. But that's not the kind of thing that should be EXCUSED...

Weidman's stupid tactic EXPLAINS an important turning point in the fight, but it's not like he suddenly caught a stomach flu or something.

Fighting dumb can't EXCUSE you from your loss.

This spinning thing is such bullshit, fighters lose because they make mistakes, if fighters didn`t make mistakes we would have draws everytime...Weidman lost because Luke capitalize on a mistake, like in every single fight happens, he was the better fighter, the end.
