My no-gi matches at NAGA

Here are the only two matches I had taped from NAGA chicago. They were the no-gi semifinals and finals in my group (masters light heavy). I train 90% gi but love rolling no-gi too. I looked a little sloppy but managed to win both these matches by triangle.

This is my 2nd comp and I did a lot better then the first. For those of you on the fence, GET OUT AND COMPETE! It doesn't matter your experience.

Congrats. I've only been to one tournament, and it was only the guys I normally train with! (Very small tourn with not a great turnout). But still, being in front of the crowd, knowing there's a little piece of ****l on the line, knowing you lose 2x and go home, paying the money to be there, it does something mentally that's addicting! I can't wait to go to a couple real tournaments that are coming up!

You looked pretty good! A couple more years and I can go master's too! =)~

Were you masters or adult? I had 2 teammates in the adult division. There were a ton of great matches on our mat, it was fun to watch.

 

Did you throw up a gang sign at the end of the 2nd match? lol

Is The Shocker legal at NAGA events?

 

I'm sure if you tapped someone out with the shocker, there would be a rule specifiaclly banning it at the next event :icon_cry2

Teen
Adult 18-29
Masters 30-39
Directors 40-49
Executives 50+

I'm 32 and have been training for 6 months.

 

I should really learn a proper leg lock. If you want, you can post my matches if people want a good laugh.

Good job dude. Funny thing is the only tourny i've ever been to (i got my ass kicked) my buddy won 1st place using almost the exact same technique as you.... single leg and then triangle.
