For example I type "cant" expecting it to auto-correct to "can't". But it auto corrects to can' with no letter after the apostrophe. (I didn't put it in quotations because it just looked like three apostrophes and was confusing) It does this with all contractions. Doesnt becomes Doesn'. If you view my last month of posts you will see. Anyone know how to correct this?

Edit: it' an android (note 8) <---see did it again

It is quite telling of our current generation and its level of entitlement when we expect technology to automatically add the apostrophe to compensate for our own laziness. Then we all flock to the internet to complain about how annoying it is. This is the Pinnacle of first world problems.

I' Not complaining I'm asking how to correct it. (<---did it again). Expecting my new phone to do what every phone I've had for the last 8 years has done is not entitlement or laziness it' (<---- again) expecting it to work properly. Why don't you go back to handwriting letters to people then

I add the apostrophe myself and never rely on autocorrect. I still look words up in dictionaries to make sure I spell correctly. It keeps the mind sharp for when you need to write with a pen and paper and not feel deprived that the text doesn't correct itself.

But that's just me

Yes i know how to fix it

The autocorrect is built into the keyboard. So Download G- board, Google's keyboard, and make it your default keyboard.

Problem solved.

I agree that auto-correct makes you a much worse speller. (I see it all the time reading work orders typed by "millenials" at work) but it' (<----again) not like I don' (<---again) understand how it should be spelled. Thats why im asking. Its just a convenience while typing fast. Plus my phone should work as advertised

Have you heard of this problem or problems with android keyboards?

No. Never heard of it. But i like the Google keyboard the best anyway, so it's worth installing even if you weren't having this problem.

But since you are having issues with the Samsung keyboard, that makes it even more of a no-brainer.

Just write it right and then press on the correct spelling above the keyboard rather than using the space bar and it will save it as an option. The android keyboard learns your use fast.

Edit, I use the Google keyboard. Just realised ya don't.

I tried that but they weren't there. Like I said it did it with every contraction. There is no way I misspelled all of them

Install SwiftKey. It will work properly.

Samsung auto correct seems to have shit the bed. It was good on the s2, but I'm forever having to correct auto corrections on the s7. Some off them are ridiculous as well, like it keeps trying to correct "if" to "Ou'd".

Mine does this now too. It will also capitalize letters in the middle of sentences out of nowhere and change words that are spelled correctly to random other words.

I just switched to Google keyboard too. I like the layout of the Samsung better but at least this one works.

your phone has AndroIDS

It seems like keyboard programs are getting worse with time. My laptop started having problems after the last Windows upgrade. It will drop letters occasionally or get them in the wrong order. It sometimes has a delay getting the letters on the screen. I thought I was screwing up typing so I put a camera on the keyboard to check and the letters weren't always displayed in the order they were typed. I tried a different keyboard and get the same problem so it seems to be a problem processing the keyboard input. It has something to do with the filter keys. Seems like they "Fix" things that didn't have a problem and create new problems.
