Every year they should do a 16 man openweight tournament featuring The top 10 HWs, the top 4 LHWs, the MW champion, and 1 wild card spot picked by Joe Silva/Dana White. All alternates would also be picked by Silva/White. This gives the rankings a real meaning and would create a hugely fascinating tournament

thanks for your input.

One night tournaments are stupid from the marketing point of view and they also hurt the fighters if they have to fight multiple times in one night with injuries very likely piling up.

It was popular in Japan where fans didn't care that much about fighters losing and the fighters fought like 4 times or more a year.

The only reasonable tournaments I would do in the UFC are the likes of Super 6 in boxing where you pick top 6 fighters of the division and match them up against each other over the course of say 2 years to get the best guy in the division out of it. It would be fun to watch UFC MW super 6 for example, or maybe WW or LW. Those divisions are stacked and there's no clear #1.

Agreed, also in a Thunderdome type cage.

Who says it has to be over the course of one night? Start it in January and end in around September

Since you said 'every year' they should basically just do these tournaments and that's it? At least as far as top heavyweights are concerned.

Ugh, who wants to base a tournament around heavyweights? Do 145-170 that would be fun.

Its not an "open weight " tourny if you're having top 10 heavies/4lhw/mw-c/ wild card....
Open weight means open weight....wonderboy could enter and draw overeem in the opening round.

I sure would watch it, openweight tournaments are awesome, some of the Pride openweight tournaments is some of the best MMA action ever.

Don't like the idea. Far better tournaments to put togheter in the UFC.

Would watch it though.
