Here are some videos from my BJJ debut at the Arnold Classic Naga's in Columbus, OH on 3/1/08. I have 3 months training and entered the masters intermediate nogi and the white belt gi. I wasn't happy with my performance in either and found tons of mistakes. Feel free to make fun of the newb :D

Sorry for the shitty camera...the guy filming was far away and people kept walking in front, it's kind of hard to watch at times.

My first nogi match. PS. i've never trained nogi ever before, but I'm a gamer so I went in the intermediate division. I won this match on points. I'm in the white shorts and bare feet.

Here is my first gi match. I lost 2-0 as I got swept going for a standing guard pass. I feel like I was going in slow motion in this one and couldn't think. It makes me VERY motivated in practice to do better my next time out.

I'm in the white gi

with 3 months training you entered masters intermediate no gi? do you have any other experience?

I wrestled 13 years ago. In retrospect it may not have been the smartest move, but I wanted to test myself.

good work, i only really watched the gi fight, you did good in keeping the underhook in half-guard on the top, when he is trying to get his legs back in to reclaim guard you need to sit your hip down on the floor and turn your hips to face the legs keep heaps of pressure on the jaw with your shoulder it will help you open up. Oh, and keep posture in the guard.

hands off the mat, thats all i can say from just skimming thought the vid. keep up the hard training

I wanted to watch the gi match but when your camera man started filming the wrong match I couldn't take it anymore. Better luck next time, sounds like you had some fun.

Thanks for the feedback, guys...you give me even more to think about.

There were like 10 biznillion people there so the camera man literally couldn't get any closer to tape. He's pretty far away which is why its rough at times.

Losing definitely is making me train twice as hard. If anyone is on the fence about entering a tournament, get off your ass and sign up!
