I shared this on reddit, but I thought i'd put this here too

https://bjjfanatics.com/products/the-half-guard-anthology-by-lachlan-giles

Half guard is my A game from the bottom and I put everything I know about the half guard and its variants into this series. In my opinion this is the most comprehensive series on the half guard to date.

I loosely defined half guard as any guard where the persons 1 leg is between mine, so this series covers the following: Knee shield half guard, the underhook, the dogfight, reverse de la riva, sit up guard, reverse half/backstep/jedi mind trick, waiter sweep position, entries to these half guard variants, and recovery from disadvantageous positions back to half guard. Of course I added a good 2 hours of narrated rolling at the end so you can see how I use these systems against resistance.

BJJ Fanatics were awesome in giving me complete control over how I made this series, which means I got to piece everything together exactly as I planned. There was actually some concern about the series being too large to put as a single product but I convinced them to keep it like that because each of the positions links to the other.

It took 3 days to shoot, and a few months for me to edit/order the clips exactly how I wanted them presented. Essentially I wanted to avoid some of the things that I often find frustrating about DVD's. Each chapter contains primary attacks from the chosen position, and then follow up attacks that you use depending on how your opponent reacts, this way you get to understand my mindset and hierarchy for when I use each move, rather than just a random collection of techniques that I use.

I have always found it frustrating when I am having a problem with a technique, and I have to sit through a good 2-3 hours of tape just to find the solution I am looking for. To work around this I have a troubleshooting section for each of the major positions, in which the title of the clip relates to the problem you are encountering. I thought of all the problems I encounter, and common problems my students have. E.g. say you are going for the underhook sweep but your opponent is hiding their leg so you can't apply the knee twist: There is a Troubleshooting section for underhook half guard, and in that there is a clip titled "Counter to hiding their leg 1". It should be very easy to locate that clip. Check out the DVD cover to get a better understanding of this.

Throughout the DVD there is a bunch of live footage of me doing the technique, so you can see it live, along with 2 hours + narrated rolling at the end.

The best thing about this series is that it all comes together as a system. Each of the techniques link so you should be able to constantly stay on the offence within the half guard. That said, I do also include when and how I would transition out of the half guard to other positions, such as single leg X guard, for which you can find my instructional on that through the Grapplers Guide.

I hope you all enjoy, and if you do, please recommend to all of your friends!

Well done on putting together such a ridiculously comprehensive work on this aspect of the study of human chess called grappling.

Like I posted on reddit already, I love your youtube channel so this was a snap buy for me, and while I haven't had time to watch much of it as of yet, I don't even regret forgetting to input the blackfriday discount code :)

Are you doing another thailand camp this year? I found out about the other one after the fact and it sounded quite fun.

Not going to tell him he should have spent his time doing judo then?

Number9Dream thank you!

I will likely be hosting another one around mid next year. Hopefully July to escape our cold winter haha

Damn... I'm never interested in this stuff but part 3 alone looks super interesting.

Like GSP once said:'' I don't want to lick butts'' but your stuff is awesome

I've been watching your Butterfly, X guard, SLX, Shin to shin... series on the grapplers guide and this DVD was bought almost instantly when I saw it on BJJ fanatics.

Huge fan of how you teach and organize your content and how much detail you put into position and the probable actions that your opponent will do.

Damn... I'm never interested in this stuff but part 3 alone looks super interesting.

This part is absolutely amazing. And it doesn't need a lot of drilling to get those recovery techniques. I pretty much used them the day after I watched them and they worked just fine even if I never did them. I already used 2 of the cross face + underhook recovery and the switched based ones.

Gotta say I'm impressed with the bjjfanatics customer service, they retroactively applied the discount code to my purchase despite it being entirely my fault I forgot to enter it.

I have gotten alot out of your instructional videos. I changed my whole game from a Spiderguard based guard to a Butterfly/SLX/Xguard game based on your instructional of GrapplersGuide. As a guy that plays no halfguard, i'm excited to delve into this instructional.
