Hopefully this helps someone. It's amazing how many blue and purple belts don't know how to sit up from the Butterfly guard once their opponent has forced them flat...

My instructor pointed out recently that I needed to extend my legs to sit up when in the butterfly guard but i never understood why. I always thought i could play it laying flat. Thanks for the share.
