TUF CHAMP

got cocky in there. whooping it up and was starting to showboat. emmett is too fast and too powerful to pull that crap.

His record is 19-14

What are we even talking about here?

He is definitely a headcase of some kind. Shame too, has the tools to be a top 10 guy (at LW) if he could get his mind right.

Records don't tell the whole story. The guy has potential but can't seem to put it together.

Its his own fault. He's basically another Masvidal with less resume. At least Jorge has staying power

Also, better fight IQ, better boxing (offense and defense), a top chin, well-rounded
He fights bigger guys and doesn't kill himself making weight

I think it's his gym. They got him to a level that is decent but he really hasn't changed in the past few years. If anything he is slowing down since he is getting older.

Depends what happens when you die. If he was still alive he wouldn't like Leaving Neverland.

People forget Johnson has wins over Guillard, Lauzon, Ferguson., Poirer, Tibau. He also was very competitive with Gaethje and Dariush. He has poor fight iq, but the guy is talented. You don't beat those kinds of guys or give them a hell of a fight in defeat if you're some can.

19-13 with 8 submission losses absolutely tells the whole story. How many more data points do you need to quantify Johnson?

He's had four separate occasions he's lost back to back fights, including losing three in a row. On his worst run, he lost 4 of 5 fights.

MJ is overall a subpar grappler, doesn't use offensive wrestling and is a liability on the ground. He's a journeyman veteran of the sport, not a prospect we are still figuring out.

Everybody beats MJ. He has fast hands so occasionally he'll come up with a win.

And yet is also the best "Any Given Sunday" example in all of MMA, heh.

I think he's similar to Masvidal, in that he's more concerned with looking like he isn't worried about his opponent at all than actually trying to win the fight. With Masvidal, he gets passive and tries to look slick while his output slows down so he gets outpointed. With Johnson, he ends up letting off the gas and allowing his opponent back into the fight after he loses focus. It really seems to happen most often when he has a lot of early success too. He starts feeling himself and thinks he can't lose.

Although honestly, looking at his record in recent years, that hasn't been as much of a problem until Saturday. He was just fighting the best in the world at LW. The Elkins loss was bad but everyone knows how durable and tough he is. He could still go on a run.
