I'm looking to put on weight, right now i'm 5"9 about 147. PWO I drink gold standard whey and before I go to bed I drink muscle milk with 12 oz's of milk. Would drinking muscle milk twice a day along with the whey protein be overkill? If not, when would be a good time to drink MM aside from before bed, in the morning? also, do you guys drink muscle milk with milk or water? I know some people seem to have a vendetta against drinking milk.

What does the rest of your diet look like? It's hard to say if we don't have an idea of how your cals/macros break down.

There's nothing wrong with drinking more Muscle Milk, but you're wasting your time/money/efforts if your training diet (read: actual food) are not in order. The stickies are your friend.

Now that I've posted a serious reply, I'm taking over this thread.

Has anyone else seen the Muscle Milk delivery semi-trucks yet? One crossed the road in front of me as I was riding my bike to work today. It was a very special moment for me.

Google has yielded no image results, I'm afraid.

I drink MM w/water 3 times a aday on training days. 2 x a day on rest days. 45 min before training 45 min after and before bed. on rest days in the a.m about 2 hours after my first meal and before bed. never tried it with milk, not against milk (dairy in general) before about 2 pm. Diet is most important.

What do you mean, "along with the whey protein"? Thats what Muscle Milk is, whey protein. I cant drink any other protein brand, MM is too good. Its a little more expensive, sure, but worth it to me to not have to choke down my protein.

Ive tried it with milk, and its really thick. Thats the only downside for me. If you need the extra calories, use the milk. If not, use water.

Edit - FWIW, I have a shake when I wake up, and one postworkout. Thats it for me, the rest of my protein is in my diet.

And XTrainer, no I havent seen the delivery trucks, whats the deal?

It's actually a protein blend.

It is, but primarily a whey protein. Basically my question is, why would you take two different brands of protein, unless one was whey and the other was casein, or if one is a weightgainer?

^Actually, comparing MM to whey is apples and oranges. Muscle Milk is a low-carb MRP, not matter what the label says (it is not peri-workout nutrition). For example, it should be noted that Muscle Milk has about the same number of calories from fat as protein (the old formula had an even greater fat:protein ratio, I believe). I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it should change the way you use it in your diet, with respect to regular whey. You're only kidding yourself if you use MM to fill the niche of whey because MM tastes so good.

Do the math - your gona want to get at least 200 grams of protein a day, and youd be surpsied how much food it takes to reach that.

Ex. 30grams whey upon waking

9:00AM - Eggwhites omlette with peppers (30 grams protein)

11:30- lunch - chicken + greens and rice (30 grams protein)

2:30- Apple and whey protein pre workout (30 grams)

4:30- PWO shake and creatine (30 grams)

6:30- dinner, steak + potatoes and greens

Bedtime- 1/2 cup eggwhites + 1/2 scoop whey mixed and freid up in an omlette with peanut butter and cinnmon. (30 grams)

Total = 210 grams of protein.

If you are going to correct someone, at least be correct yourself. The main protein in it is casein. The exact same as their evo pro product. Different types of protein are beneficial, so what is the point of your question?

Actually, its mainly a MIX of casein and whey, as previously stated. I understand that different types of protein are beneficial, however, my question was: why use a whey protein in addition to Muscle Milk, when MM already has whey protein in it?

this is similar to my diet right now, here's what i'm looking at

wake up- MM 2 scoops w/milk (this what i'd be adding), multivitamin
breakfast - ham or bacon omelette and apple
lunch - grilled chicken, rice and veggies, almonds
workout
PWO Whey (1 scoop)
Dinner - I love my steak and potatoes but people in this forum get on me for that so I do have that only occasionally. I also like lamb along with veggies. not the greatest dinner i know
after dinner - usually some fruit
bedtime - MM (2 scoops) w/milk

the only thing i don't do is take something pre- workout. I know i should go through the stickies but what do people usually take, whey or creatine? any recommendations on which kind/brand?

cant see any one putting down steak and potatoes around here! as long as you add some veggies too it. steak, potatoes and veggies are one of the best meal choices out there

believe me, steak and potatoes are my favorite meal of all time, but i got ripped for it in this forum.

Are you serious?

Yup, serious. You're telling me its NOT in fact a mix of casein and whey protein? I mean, it says it right in the ingredients. I dont claim to be a genius, nor do I know everything about protein and nutrition, but I know a fair amount, and I can read an ingredient label.

I dont see why you would get so upset about it. Maybe I dont know the ratio of casein to whey in Muscle Milk, it could be 10:1 for all I know, Im just going off of what I read on the label, and the fact that Ive used it for two years now with great success.

Im not trying to start shit, Im just asking.

Dude, Vedic is not arguing that it is not a mix. Read my post above, then read the Muscle Milk and whey protein stickies, and then you will understand what we mean.
