Which one would you use for a meal replacement?

Im using MM right now but someone told me to use Myoplex

I'd go with Muscle Milk. They're both in the running for best tasting though...

edit: My reasoning is that if I recall correctly Myoplex is mostly whey protein? This was a couple years ago, though, but in general I think Muscle Milk is the superior protein.

kk thats what i was thinking just making sure, the only + to myoplex is less calories but i also give up more protein

I would recommend making your own and carrying it in a bottle. Both Musclemilk and Myoplex are abnormally high in sugar and sodium for the amount of protein you get.

Quick Recipe:

250Ml Whole Milk
2 Table Spoons Natural Peanut Butter
2 Scoops ON Whey (Flavor of your choice)

Total Calories: ~620
Total Protein: ~55

Neither. They are both crappy quality protein supplements. Muscle milk tastes out of this world for a reason, it's terrible and is good only as a cheat.
Myoplex makes muscle milk look like chicken breast and broccali. The biggest waste of money out there. Pay for the name, not the milk based protein crap that's is myoplex. Stick with whey isolates, hydrolislates, micellular caseins, egg white proteins (not as blends but as individuals) and you will be fine.

The only thing bad about muscle milk is fructose, and it isn't loaded with it. The fats are all MCTs, monos, and polys, so I dont see what the problem with MM is.

Muscle Milk: 6g is a lot of sugar for 32g of protein? Please.

WTF are you talking about? Muscle Milk is a great meal replacement, it's loaded with good fats, low carbs and a good amount of protein.

Myoplex isn't as good of a meal replacement as MM, IMO. It doesn't taste as good either. I'd stick with the MM.

It's loaded with canola oil. This is not a good fat. The mct's comprise a tiny amount of the fat content, tiny. "It's low carbs" How is this a good thing? A meal needs carbs, good carbs, not the crappy malto and sugar that's in mmilk. The protien is mostly shitty caseinates and whey concentrates. It's not a quality product. It's a good tasting product. If your concern is taste, then go ahead and enjoy it.

And how is canola oil bad? We may as well go ahead and say peanut butter is bad for you too, in that case.

It really depends on what your goal is. MM is really high in sat fat and calories, so if you are looking to gain weight regardless of how much fat you put on its fine. Myoplex on the other hand tastes very similar to chalk (yes I have tasted chalk, long story). If you want to lose weight, I would suggest going with a cheap meal replacement low in calories that has a taste you can stand.

so if you dont want either MM or Myoplex what do you people eat/drink for a meal replacement?

Don't listen to the peanut gallery, theres nothing wrong with either MM or Myoplex. It boils down to taste and which suits you nutritional goals better. You should really be getting most of your calories from food, I don't usually exceed a shake a day.

He read that MM slam article on t-nation and bought it...hook, line and sinker.

Go hold hands with the other guy who doesn't know shit about MM and jump off a bridge.

I'm pretty sure that MM bashing is explicitly forbidden in the FAQ for D&S so I for one call ban. Seriously, you've got to be fucking retarded to think one of the best and most repped supplements ever is "bad."

MM is fucking great, especially if you're bulking. If you're cutting weight...stay away from MM. As long as you're getting the proper amount of exercise there's nothing wrong with using MM. I have never tried myoplex but my wife thinks it's great.

Huh?

You can use MM for bulking, maintaining and cutting. It all simply boils down to calories in vs. calories out. People who overuse it can get fat just as if they were to overuse anything else that causes their caloric intake to exceed expenditure.

I thought that a scoop of MM pre-workout and a scoop pre-bedtime was good as long as you were monitoring caloric intake. I've added this while I've been cutting over the last month and I've dropped 13 pounds and kept most muscle mass.

The problem with MM isn't the calories, it's the saturated fat. Forgive me, I don't have a tub in front of me but I thought MM's sat. fat was like 15g or something like that. That's about as much saturated fat as an entire pack of bacon dude.

one scoop? I just started using it and I follow the directions on teh tub that say 2 scoops.... right now im just drinking it as a pre wo drink... should I also drink it before bed?

and man, it really does taste good... no kidding. If I start using it twice a day (4 scoops), gonna go through the tub fairly quickly... gonna start getting pricey

can anyone tell me if I should stick with the 2 scoops per drink or if they know something better?

thanks

bro, cottage cheese before bed. you're at home. eat some cheaper whole food.

save the supplements for when you're stranded out at work or something and whole food is not an option.

MM =

cal 350 (160 from fat)
total fat 18g
sat fat 8g
cholesterol 5mg
sodium 200mg
potassium 600mg
total carb 12g
fiber 0g
sugars 6g
protein 32g

i use it for a MRP at work with no other alternatives available to me. i'd like to see a little less sat fat and a little more non-sugar carbs but it's fine.

Not that anyone asked, but my faqvorite MRP is Lean Mass Matrix. It has about 40g of good quality protein, a moderate amount of quality (whole grain) carbs, and some quality fats (omega 3s, I think). Plus, it tastes fantastic (at least, the cinnamon (sp?)oatmeal flavor does).
Enjoy.
