Hey guys, I'm a grappler (2-3 years in bjj and wrestling) interested in striking who's looking to find a good Muay Thai and/or kickboxing (Dutch-style?) gym in Los Angeles. Chances are good I'll be in the North Hollywood area but I'm willing to drive a bit.

I'm looking for something

-affordable
-emphasis on correct technique
-good atmosphere.

And placing myself at the mercy of you fellas (and ladies?)

Thanks a lot

If you just want to learn MT, I'm sure you can find a ton of places that teach it (ie: most MMA and kickboxing gyms). Maybe Edmond at GFC? Lol

For traditional Muay Thai (with wai kru, etc), North Hollywood has:

MTA (Kru Puk)
Muay Thai School USA (Kru Nokweed)
MTAG (not sure if Kru Santi is still there)
Saekson's affiliate in Van Nuys (Julio Trana)

There are others but don't know how legit the instruction is.

You also have World Muay Thai in Newhall (Kru Pong), The Yard (Joe Schilling, etc) and Sityodtong in Pasadena (Sleeper).

Mr. Lightning, Kronphet, BM Sasiprapa and Malaipet used to be around but all left the LA area.

Dutck Kickboxing:

Only Antoni Hardonk at Dynamix MMA, as far as I know.

Boxing Works (Briyan Popejoy) in Torrance, CA

Thanks a lot man. Do you recommend one of these over the others?

Personally, I absolutely love The Yard.
Having trained there over the course of the last 9 years, I can say The Yard has everything I wanted in a Muay Thai gym.
Great people, tough as hell workout's and some serious talent training and teaching there.
Joe Schilling is the co-owner along with his coach Mark Komuro.
Everyone is very kind and helpful. Your first lesson is also free.

However, also having lived in DTLA for the last 9 years, I know how long it can take to leave your neighborhood to go anywhere. :/
