Muay Thai in Chicago IL.

im looking for a good MT school in the chicago land area. i have trained in kenpo and boxing since the age of 5. so i am not a begginer.

im looking for a serious school. any help would be appreciated. also if you know cost of training, gym times, or just a website that would be cool.
 
If you find one within 20 miles of downtown on the Northside please lemme know. The only one I know of is Degerburg academy on Lincoln Ave. Their Muay THai instructor is very good from what I've seen but they only meet twice a week, and I can't afford 130$ a month for 2 hours of class a week.
 
ya me neither lol.

to rephrase my location needs. it can also be in the chicago suburbs. pretty much anywhere within an hour of the suburbs
 
I hear degerburg isn't so good

Carlson gracie federation has muay thai 4 times a week, not sure how it is as I only do jiujitsu there. It's not part of carlson gracie, its a different organization I believe.
 
huh, I didn't know this, but apparently Team Oyama has a training center in Streamwood and they have a TBA certified instructor there. I was looking for TBA schools in the area since there is a possibility that I may be moving back and came across this. I can't speak for the quality and I can't find anything on prices but the facility looks more than adequate and the team seems like a pretty serious fight team so, maybe worth checking out.

looks like a very solid place. only 30 minutes from me.

i noticed that bjj was offered for 120 a month with unlimited training. there were no prices for the muay thai i wonder if its the same. im gonna give them a call. thanks for that post p town
 
imaf what do you know about there instructors there? for half the price of oyama its definetely something that im gonna have to think about.

i think a trial class at both is going to be my next step.

have you seen the facilities at toro? i couldnt find any pics on there site.

Ya from what the website says toro would be damn good, and its quite a bit closer to my house than oyama. Remmeh if you end up checking out those classes please post your thoughts on em. If Toro is half decent imma join for sure.

i definetely will do that. im gonna try and check out oyama on saturday for a trial class if my schedule permits it.

as far as absolute fitness the owner is also the head MT coach at oyama. so i dont know what that means or when he is available for classes at either place. sorta wierd.
 
there is powkickboxing.com

they have bjj boxing and kickboxing.

Ya, I searched around, and it seems he moved to Team Oyama in 2002. I emailed him to confirm. I'm gonna go check out the Absolute fitness palce see if its even there anymore.
 
there is also combat do in cicero...i thought about going there, but there is just something creepy about that place.

BTW, I assuming Jeff Curran's place is too far? I only ay so since it should probably be the first place to look if you haven't already. I think its in crystal lake or somewhere around there, so definitely within striking distance of the burbs'. If you are checking out schools this should definitely be on your list IMHO.

Awesome looking facility, you know Curran is top notch (or you will when he beats Faber :D ), and as far as training parteners go you've got half the silverbacks there when they are not training in Iowa.
 
curran's unlimited plan looks pretty great, but also pricey, especially since they force you to buy a gi and i would want to go no gi anyway. but hey this is great, i thought there were no good facilities within 100 miles of me and i find out that theres 3!

i too am looking for a gym when i move back to chi
 
damn i might be seeing a lot of sherdoggers at whichever place i choose. lol
