Gym/Training Muay Thai Gym Q&A

I have done some long research into which camp I want to go to.

I have chosen this one:
http://www.muaythaidragon.com

The rates:
Room+Training (1 Month) 20,800 THB.

20,800.00 THB

=

414.673 GBP

6 months would cost me under

13 Coins has a deal right now for 22,000 baht for training, room, and breakfast. Way better value, but you should probably try out a few gyms before having to drop serious cash on a place you're not going to like. I personally loved 13 coins, but others had luke warm impressions of the place. Try out a couple gyms first is my advice.

I trained at Sitmonchai for two sessions a few days ago and was blown away by everything. Of course I expected to see great fighters and great trainers, but did not expect such a friendly atmosphere. The other reviews saying they have a family vibe is very true. Even for a drop in, I felt very welcomed by the boss, Abigail, and the pro fighters.

The boss is very nice, and picked me up from my accommodations 35 km away. After mentioning that I was hungry from hiking Erawan falls all day, he immediately pulled over and bought pizza and water for me, insisting that I didn't pay. " If you're hungry, train no good". Great guy! Abigail is their english speaking contact who is a pleasure to deal with and answered all my questions.

The actual training was amazing. Lots of personal attention from the coaches and fighters. Kru Poj is really encouraging and very detail oriented. Both times I got to work with Pornsenah individually on different things like boxing, defenses and counters. When I work on the things that I had just learned from the day, the other fighters and trainers are eager to walk up and help me tweak it. The foreign fighters and the thai fighters are very friendly with each other and Pornsenah is always cracking jokes. Every gym will talk about joining their " family" but I've never felt so welcomed and a part of a warm setting before. It was definitely hard leaving the Kanchanaburi region, and I'm looking back at the pictures my gf took with fond memories even though it hasn't even been a week yet! Definitely love Sitmonchai gym!

What is their monthly rate and how far out are they from Kanchanaburi town?

Team Quest has a camp in Chiang Mai :)

Hey guys, I'm planning on going to Bangkok in early/mid december. Was wondering if you guys have any good recommendations. I'm staying next to Siam Paragon Shopping Centre. Would like something near, if possible. Heard good things about 13 coins, does anyone know if that's near?

Cheers.

GSP brought in a guy from Tiger Muay Thai, Lam. I've never been to Tiger, but still think its pretty cool that legit muay thai guys are getting some mainstream attention.

Any of yall trained with him before?

Hey guys, I'm gonna be in Thailand for 9 months for a while. I've already picked a gym, but I am looking for another country to train at with a similar budget range.

I am thinking Philippines because I hear rent is around $100-200, but the MMA gym is $20-25 a month. Only downside is that you have to hold pads for someone else, which I do not want to do.

Are there any other countries to train in with the same living costs as in Chiang Mai/Thailand and similar training style?

bump? :)

Any suggestions on a gym near an area that is family friendly, and low key? A place where my wife, and two young daughters can relax. And I could train for a few weeks?

Maybe Koh Samui? Not so much falang scum like in phuket and pattaya and nice beaches.

wmc gym and superpro are pretty full so i would suggest the maiir gym.

I trained at Tiger for a month before going to university, and had the pleasure of training with both Master Yod and Kru Lam. Master Yod is easily one of the best Muay Thai trainers in the world. And Kru Lam's experience and knowledge is amazing. I would recommend Tiger Muay Thai to anyone. Amazing training, amazing facilities and some of the best trainers in the world.
