hello, I would like to put a list together of muay thai fakes. please comment on some of your fakes that you use. Ill start it off

When they get used to a switch kick (left body kick), I do a switch-teep (rear leg, instead of usual lead leg)

Another I like, its not really a feint per se

1,2,3,kick

the first 3 strikes are pure bs just to get them thinking about upstairs, then I go to town downstairs

Thousands of years ago, Plato prophecised that no sherdog thread on Muay Thai can go without a post related to Saenchai.

So here three faking techniques that he uses for his kicks.

Just about anything can be used as a feint to set up something else. That said my favourites are faking a low kick to the lead leg, then double stepping and hitting the rear leg.
Another is to fake the rear push kick and turn it into a "questions mark" kick or superman.

Pretty much -fake low, go high, or fake right go left.

A similar one: you get them to check, and sweep the rear leg out

Ya, that's a good one. Been caught with a few times in Thailand - those guys are really slick with it. I saw one with a side kick to the back leg as well recently (Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning") that was pretty cool.

I love using this...gotta set them up by getting them to check high a few times and then cut kick that back leg.

Lighting has a real slick style. He would show us shit in class and I'd be thinking "none of us would be able to use that in a fight" lol. Dude has a lot of kicks that don't seem like normal MT kicks but when I asked him, he said it's the only thing he's ever trained. Apologies for the vertically recorded video lol:

That was going to be my contribution.

Ok something more complicated.

Jab while stepping back leg forward which loads up a left HK to the head. Jab blinds him and then boom!

Jab -> any kick
Works well when they respect your hands, I've landed jab, leg kick countless times.

Thats pretty much the main thing, if they don't respect your hands, the feints / fakes don't work

Agree I jab left leg kick, jab right kick all day.

This one is a little trickier though because the jab is just a blinder and you are stepping forward with the back leg at the same time. So as a jab it's awkward and useless but it winds up the left kick to the head that comes up as the jab is retracting (learned from Firas at Tri star ).

Sorta like this combo, minus the leg kick first? I guess this is more of a jab -> switch kick but similar shit.

great comments guys, im trying to put a list together, put it up at the gym and practice them. if you guys could list them like i did that would be great!! thanks!

Fake jab, anything.

Or

Fake teep, anything.

Seriously. Those two simple fakes can set up punches, kicks, knees, elbows, clinch entries, takedowns or whatever else you can think of. Most of my feinting is done with my jab and teep.

Some of my favorites:

Fake jab, teep.
Fake teep, jab.
Fake jab, right low kick.
Fake teep, rear body/head kick.
Fake jab, switch kick/knee.
Fake teep, 1-2.
Fake jab, left hook.
Fake teep, single leg (MMA only of course).

There are countless more, and they pretty much all work with either a jab or a teep fake.

Close to it, just the back leg comes forward as u jab and that winds up the switch before the head kick with the left leg.

Mine is pretty similar only I use a 1-2 and step forward on the 2, then throw another jab with the left HK behind it. I find the extra power of the 2 means they are more likely to shell up and blind themselves for the follow up kick.

+1

A variation I like is to bait the check (fake kick to lead leg) and step into a spearing knee. Or fake the inside lead leg kick into a quick switch spearing knee to the body.

That sounds pretty good. After the right cross do u step in with the right foot? Then jab kick?

Look down, kick high.

Second oldest trick in the book.
