ITT post your favorite movies about making movies! I know there are lots of good documentaries, but I'm more thinking about feature films. I'm watching State amd Main right now, which is what inspired me to create this thread.

Probably my favorite genre...

Movie Crazy (1932)
Hellzapoppin (1941)
In a Lonely Place (1950)
Sunset Boulevard (1950)
The Bad and the Beautiful (1952)
Singing in the Rain (1952)
The Barefoot Contessa (1954)
The Day of the Locust (1975)
Hollywood Man (1976)
Hooper (1978)
The Stuntman (1980)
The Player (1992)
Ed Wood (1994)
Boogie Nights (1997)
Tropic Thunder (2008)
Hail Caesar! (2016)
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)

Highway99 covered most of the bases but here's a few. Would be interesting to see people's favorites. There's quite a few masterpieces about making films.

The Stunt Man
Barton Fink
The Cameraman
Sullivan's Travels
Mulholland Dr
Lost Highway
Inland Empire
The Purple Rose of Cairo

The Bad and the Beautiful (1952)

This one's my favorite. The part where they go through Val Lewton's creation of Cat People is so great on so many levels.

As a James Cagney fan, I'd also add Footlight Parade, Lady Killer, and Something to Sing About.

More recently, I'll show some love to the unfairly maligned Babylon.

The Fablemans fits here. I'm not even a big Spielberg fan but enjoyed this one.

Oh man...how could I forget Babylon...Especially since I've been listening to Justin Hurwitz's music for the film over and over the last few days. Love all that guy's stuff.

The Hearst Party song makes me want to run through a wall:

I don't watch a lot of new movies, but this is one I love and regret not seeing in theaters.

And I don't know if I'd put La La Land in the category, but it does have one scenes I love where they walk and talk around the Warner Brothers lot. I've been on that Warner Brother tour a few times, and it reminds me of getting to walk around see all the goings-on there.

There's a moment where they stop and look at all the hustle and bustle inside a sound stage and she just quietly says, "I love it."

Paramount+ had something called like First Nudie Musical and it had so much boobs and pussy. A lot of the background dancing girls had good sized boobs.
