Gegard Mousasi destroyed Chris Weidman. After panic wrestling for a round and a half, Weidman gassed out in the second.

Mousasi destroyed him in the standup and got up almost immediately after being taken down.

No contraversy here. Moose made Weidman quit. Chris wanted to cheat his way into a DQ win but it backfired on him.

weidman lost a ton of respect for that shit he tried to pull.

When Mousasi is on, he is fucking ON. Sometimes he shows up uninspired and lays a stinker against grapplers, but man p4p he might be a top 10 CLEAN ATG

I favor the Moose over Izzy

How about Machida's performance against Moose?
(1st fight)

Machida was great in that fight, his timing was almost matched by moose though, good thing Machida hunts and had great shot selection

Yea Machida looked great that fight. Performance wise and just physically. It was weird how much more shredded and oily he was vs Mousasi, than when he fought for example Rockhold.

this is random but I wonder when USADA went into effect.

I always liked the Serra/Longo guys but Chris's behaviour there after the knee was pretty dodgy

He wasn't as blatant as Diego recently, but it was still pretty dang obvious

Shit refereeing too

Mousasi lost the first round. That's all I'll say.

Destroyed him in his hometown in front of all of his family and friends which makes the win that much more sweeter and satisfying, especially when you remember Weidman tried to cheat/bend the rules and get the DQ win

it worked for Diego

I still like Machida a lot. Great fighter and one of the few with a very unique style but he was juiced to the absolute max in preparation of this fight.
You got any proof of this bold claim?

Machida looked the same vs Munoz but I don't see Munoz fans saying he was "juiced". You know why he looked so shredded? Because he was cutting from LHW. Munoz was his 1st MW fight, Moose was 2nd. He had to cut a lot for each - thus the shredded physique. Later he dieted down and the cut wasn't as impactful.

This is true, doesn't mean he wasn't on something but so were many others. To act like it was the sole reason for Machida's success is ridiculous. Machida still had most of the same weaknesses he had at 205. He didn't drop down only because he was "small", he dropped down because no one of his generation stood a chance against Bones.

But once Machida ran into rangy bigger grapplers at 185, who could hold theirs own striking and managing distance, he was neutralized and/or completely shut down. Just like at 205.

Moose failed in the UFC despite his success before leaving. He was given repeat opportunity to get to the belt, and never got over the hump despite consecutively gifted main events and a heavy push. He also avoided the big 3 worst matchups and still blew his 3 contender bouts. Yoel, Luke, Bobby Knux were the 3 and all heavy favorites imo. He's living a pipe dream now tho, after getting to defend vs Rory who similarly failed to capture UFC gold, also who was a weightclass below, he once again choked and lost to a nobody in Lovado(who I respect as an instructor, but is far from a top 5 guy) and was now given another ww for his title hopes lol. He's not what his fans wished he was

I don't really see Munoz fans saying much these days...
