*DISCLAIMER: This is not another "Who's the GOAT" thread, so please don't make it into that*

By my count, Georges "Rush" St. Pierre (9-2, six finishes) stands alone at the top of the mountain in terms of wins over fighters who have worn UFC gold (including interim belts). When it comes to stoppages, though... wait, what? That's right, GSP is still No. 1 — but he has company. Despite having never fought inside the octagon, the great Emelianenko Fyodor (8-1, six finishes) is tied for second all-time in wins, and his KO win vs. Frank Mir brought him even with St. Pierre yet again for the most finishes vs. UFC champions — an incredibly impressive feat.

Tied with Fedor at No. 2 all-time in wins over UFC champs is the legendary Randy "The Natural" Couture (8-8, five finishes). Surprisingly, Randy is also tied for No. 3 all-time in stoppages with his longtime rival Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell (7-6, five finishes), as well as the ol' Country Boy himself, Matt Hughes (7-4, five finishes), the one and only Kazushi "The Gracie Hunter" Sakuraba (6-1, five finishes), and the incredible Anderson "The Spider" Silva (5-4, five finishes).

Just missing the cut for the top five in both wins and stoppages are Jon "Bones" Jones (6-0, four finishes), Pedro "The Rock" Rizzo (6-4, four finishes) and Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira, AKA Big Nog (6-5, three finishes). Worth mentioning that Jones would be 7-0 with five finishes if he didn't cheat for his most impressive KO win of all.

Anyone else in the running that I'm missing? Feel free to fact-check.

*UPDATE* Dan “Hollywood” Henderson (9-9, three finishes) checks in right next to GSP at the top of the list of wins vs. UFC Champs. Credit to ToroSalvaje for the correction.

Interesting thread - if I was being petty I'd say that maybe Condit shouldn't be counted as he wasn't ever an undisputed champion - but it's very interesting nonetheless.

I was fairly surprised by Randy's record, but I guess there are so many ufc heavyweight champions that he was bound to have fought quite a few.

Good thread!

Nice. thx TS. Love these 'next level' stats.

Prepare yourself for a lot of hate though even though all you are doing is providing data. Many here do not like data that does not fit their narrative.

Appreciate it. I considered counting only undisputed champs, but if we take away Condit then for the purposes of this thread we would also have to discount Fedor’s wins vs. Nog, which I didn’t want to do. Either way, GSP would still be tied for first place with eight wins and six finishes.

Makes no sense to choose the "UFC Champs" perspective unless u wanna boost your protégé No Rush.

@MikeMcMann

You predict these things.

Discounting Jones ko over dc is trash if you chose to allow all the other juicers on that list. Pure bias bullshit. Wasteland this shitpile

As much as I wish I could take credit for the success of GSP, he is, in fact, not my protégé.

But yeah, makes no sense to make a list of the guys who have beaten the most UFC champions. None whatsoever. (I’m a PRIDE fanboy first and foremost, BTW. That thread is for another time.)

What makes no sense is limiting it to 'UFC' Champs...

Since back then UFC was not the main league, and some of the dudes quoted did beat champs from other org.

Honestly, changing it to include UFC/PRIDE champs wouldn’t change much. It would give Chuck a win over Wanderlei and Nog a win over Hendo, but really not much else. There were only so many PRIDE champs when you really think about it.

It´s not only about Pride or UFC...

it makes perfect sense for this thread. In another thread you could do the same analysis for Pride Champs. And yet another for Affliction, then SF, etc and then maybe a combined one for champs from 'all' orgs.

That is how stats work. You break out each element independently and that is all the stats speaks to.

If I want to know what the weather is like typically on a Monday following a long weekend I can look up that stat. If someone else wants to know what it is like on both Friday's and Mondays there are free to do the same. the first is not wrong simply because you would prefer the data to include the second.

uh? Makes absolutely no sense since it favours the new generation, not the older one who had lil reason to sign with the UFC.

Someone who fought in Pride and beat a RIngs or Pancrase Champ wont be represented here.

That’s because RINGS and Pancrase belts don’t hold the same amount of weight as UFC and PRIDE belts do.

“Favors the new generation”

*List includes Randy, Sakuraba and Rizzo*

for those who are clueless, that´s true.

go compare the UFC´s roster back then and Rings´ or Pancrase´s

How about this — go make a list of the fighters with the most wins over UFC/PRIDE/RINGS/Pancrase champions ever and get back to me. Let me know if anything changes in the rankings, and I’ll update accordingly. Pretty sure it’s still GSP and Fedor at the top though.
