Most underrated GOATS ever

Usman has more KO power, and a bit better cardio. GSP is better at everything else.
 
How can someone be underrated and simultaneously considered a GOAT?

1.Demetrious: If the guy wasn't so short people would talk about him non stop. Maybe the most well rounded MMA fighter ever. Dangerous everywhere. Everything exactly by the book with extremely high fight IQ and much more skilled than other fighters who are regular on the GOAT discussions.

1. It's funny that sherdoggers shit on GSP because he "retired early" after so many title defenses, but few do it when it comes to Khabib. Quality is more important than quantity? Maybe, but not much quality here. Unfortunately, LW didn't have top grapplers to test Khabib's ground game.

2. Twice in a row? Wow! Mas and Colby twice? Wow! Mas?!?! That Mas? The one and only Mas? Come on, dude! He doesn't look like an undefeated monster. He lost many rounds vs Colby, KD by Burns, just wait for the Chimaev hypetrain. People said the same thing about Woodley. "Woodley would destroy GSP if they ever fought, he looks unbeatable" A few years later, Woodley gets a Jake Paul tattoo.

3. FLW was a new division and his opposition was weak. But yeah, very, very well rounded and great fight IQ.
 
Demetrius Johnson gets ignored for ridiculous reasons. His competition gets criticized despite beating Uncle creepy, the #1 125er in the world before ufc created the division. Benavides twice, despite being the favorite to win it all. Cejudo, who is trying to get a title shot at 145 right now. Horiguchi who's maintained his top spot since leaving the UFC. Plus his success at 135 while being significantly undersized.
 
Khabib is most overrated.

But you didn’t tell us which one is the most underrated.
 
Here's a few that come to mind.


I think Hendo was the pre Jones GOAT. He gets respect but in hindsight I think no one has as impressive a total resume as he does before Jones. Listening to Sonnen's podcast it also seems like he did all that basically without a spine(he wasn't able to turn around and move his back). Machida shouldn't be in the convo now but in the early 2010s he should have been right up there. Reason he had less defenses than AS is because he was in a tougher division. Before Jones came along he had a good case IMO.

MM should have been the clear number 2 IMO behind Jones if not for his size. Post 65 does good job explaining how stacked 125 was in the beginning of his reign no one knew because they didn't care about the division and that's a damm shame. I remember thinking he was lucky to have his belt in the beginning and then he just started dominating everyone. People were putting AS,GSP and Fedor ahead of him all these years for nostaglias sake.

Igor isn't a GOAT of anything anymore but people tell the legend of Sakuraba 2000 GP meanwhile Igor beat him was on an even more inflated win streak than the Pride champs. Yeah Coleman beat him in the final but it was a one night tournament.

Tito's run through the Pancrase elite is also slept on. It's hard to give him credit for it because he's an insufferable person but he took out much of Pancrase elite and beat Wandy right before he went on his run. Frank was apparently considered the GOAT for a small stretch there and Frank only really beat Tito because he gassed. And all this cause he decided to be a UFC alternate.

Finally Evans. He was my favorite fighter so I'm biased but he came the closest to KO'ing Jones.

Yep. Also doesn't help that he lost 2 trilogies to Jones and Stipe, essentially finishing 2nd in both weight classes. Although the Jones losses have an asterisk depending on your view of PED's

Well you’re right on power and cardio. GSP has been taken down in UFC, Usman hasn’t. And he fought all of the best grapplers of this generation: Colby, Burns, Woodley, Maia. I highly doubt GSP’s wrestling was better than Usman’s there’s certainly no evidence to it. Their BJJ is probably at the same level as well.
 
Dj.all these champs nowdays dont fight because of money even though they get paid 500k alone from ufc... meanwhile dj was defending his belt for pennies

He held the belt for 2 years!

That is exactly the same reason Khabib is not the GOAT. Tenure at the top.
And let us also remember that he rematched 2 guys... and BOTH did not deserve it. That also counts.

Look I have no problem in him getting there. But he has to continue winning, and he got VERY HARD fights ahead of him.
I look forward to see what happens!! But I just don't think he is there, so he can't really be underrated GOAT (yet)
