Crime Most Trump tariffs are not legal, US appeals court rules

I see you're very emotional right now and having trouble staying on your own topic. I'll come back later when you've calmed down.

If you need to call me a racist and a nazi to help yourself feel better it's okay.

I never said all MAGAs are N-azis, and in some cases I can forgive the uninformed/uneducated but people like you are evil. You know full well that Trump is garbage, yet you continue to support him anyway and that support is causing harm.

Having all the same options that are available to your counterpart is imperative to negotiation, don’t you think?

Especially when you have a party who is negligent like the democrats and have openly rooted against their country in negotiations. And are actively trying to weaken the negotiators.

Obviously telling another country that agreements need Democrat support is the same as going into an ass kicking contest without legs

Disagree, I think it's the system working as designed.

The idea that the world's best negotiator needs unilateral authority in order to make deals is ridiculous imo, not just bc "lol no kingz", but because it actually weakens the efficacy of the negotiations if the next president has unilateral authority to rip up any deal they negotiate today.

Needing bipartisan support in trade deals is a feature, not a bug.

It's become the defence of MAGA in particular.

"I'm not actually a Nazi" and "Trump isn't literally Hitler".

They're not exactly strong defences, it's kinda like saying "I'm not actual excrement as I am made of flesh", but it's one of the best defences they've got I guess.

It’s a pretty interesting case. Congress is supposed to be in charge of tariffs, but Congress can delegate limited tariff authority to the President through specific statutes for particular trade-related concerns. national security or balance-of-payments issues, for example.
Congress didn't delegate authority, though. Right?

Go ahead. You're right. I'm evil. I'm a nazi. I'm a racist.

This is good. Let it go. It really sounds like you all need a good cry. I have an 8 year old. I'm used to dealing with this level of emotional maturity and logical reasoning.

Now just sit back with your little binky knowing you are the "good" guys.

Not even a little bit. I’m not sure if Trump‘s team found some antiquated rules or laws regarding balance payment situations or some other nonsense. The law that they used to illegally deport people was hundreds of years old. Their cadre of evil nerds know their shit

Were they all Democrats?

Half the time Trump loses in court it's from judges he personally appointed.

Ninth Circuit is a firm democrat appointee majority. And traditionally the most left(and frequently overturned) appellate court in the country.

This will be stayed indefinitely in the coming weeks and SCOTUS will get to it eventually. I think there is a reason they left such a wide stay of over a month. Ninth Circuit knows how this usually goes.

Of course, SCOTUS can refuse to hear it but the order is too far reaching and hamstrings the President on foreign policy and trade too much. They’ll have to hear it. And the tariffs will be kept on while they do that.

Jesus Christ, the Left will do anything to stop Trump from doing anything, even if it helps the Country. The Tariffs have been working, but apparently the Left wants the country to burn as long as they can stop Trump from doing anything he sets out to do. I will never vote for a Democrat ever again ( and i voted Democrat since 2008. )

I better not get fucked with tariffs on a bronze sword I commissioned to be made in Norway....
Why the fuck would you commission a bronze sword? An antique I can understand, or a nihonto like I'm waiting on in the next month or two, but an American maker can make you what would be considered Excalibur during the bronze age.

Bud your 8 year old shouldn’t still have a binky.

There are essentially two competent Bronze Age sword makers on the planet: Neil Burridge in England - who doesn't take orders or ship to the US, and Ørjan Engedal in Norway.

No American maker is going to make me a properly casted Bronze sword based on the Hemigkofen find from the late Urnfield Culture circa 1000 B.C. with period derived scabbard.

I already have over 10 antique sabres, and no interest in Nihonto.

I don't need Excalibur, I already have an Albion Principe.

We can't tariff them, but other countries can tariff us? That doesn't sound fair. Why are they putting tariffs on our products in the first place?
Maybe we can but it's just not the President that can arbitrarily do it.

You don’t understand how it works. The tariffs aren’t going anywhere. Even beyond October 14th. The case will go to the Supreme Court. While they won’t make a ruling within the next month, but they’ll definitely keep the tariffs in place as they review the case themselves(as the appeals court did) and decide to overrule or affirm the appeals court. Which can actually take years. The tariffs aren’t going anywhere.
It doesn't matter if they're legal. Just like it didn't matter if Trump was guilty of his '20 election offenses. Delay, delay, delay, is a win...

He thinks conversation is just a bunch of people who all agree screeching about Trump and half the country being Nazi or nazi. I read almost all comments in threads that interest me no matter how painful, and a lot are just bad faith drivel.

Our trade deals needed to be renegotiated and it trade deficits need to be addressed. If Biden addressed them in a manner that worked I'd applaud him. If Trump does I'd hope my fellow countrymen would applaud him. Congress is ineffective, inefficient and corrupt. Both parties are bought and paid for by corporate interests, foreign interests and crippled by partisanship.
