What are the most protected finishers that you have no memory of anyone ever kicking out of?

My first nomination is Paul Orndorff's Piledriver. My favorite Piledriver of all time executed perfectly by Orndorff with the big jump and the start.

Orndorff's pile driver was great

My all time favorite finisher was Randy Savage's elbow drop, it was a thing of beauty, the way he effortlessly float through the air as the camera flashes went off in the background, it was mesmerizing to young ole Pete

And its still protected to this day because no one has ever been able to do it the way he did

Loved Mr Wonderful's piledriver. My vote for the best ever.

Taker's Tombstone was very well protected. That and Hogan's leg drop were the first that came to mind.

I love Macho's elbow, but I watched Ultimate Warrior kick out after Macho hit 6 elbows in a row at WM7...It's still the best in the business though.

I don't recall people kicking out of the Razor's Edge much

Kenta Kobashi's Burning Hammer

Kobashi only used the move 7 times ever and only in big matches with high stakes, which really protected the move even more.

I really think the finishers should be more protected today. Having people kick out just pushes things to ridiculous extremes where everybody is trying to outperform the competition from week to week. I think it all comes back to Psychology and Presentation.

Jake's DDT (for awhile)
Hansen's Lariat

If you read Hansen's book. He protected the Lariat like a motherfucker. He never let no one kick out of it for like 99% of the time.

He would save that for VERY special occasions.

Yeah finishers have almost no meaning anymore.

You gotta hit your finisher like three times now to get a pin

Misawa's BIG Elbow also was a big move to at least turn the match around. He really fucked people up with that. It was glorious.

It was the FUCK U elbow. The real elbow. "Holy shit he elbowed him for real !"

The fuck you say about my momma? BOOM

If the Finisher doesn't finish off your opponent then it isn't a Finisher anymore and to get an actual Finisher you will have to escalate the impact of the spot which leads to more injuries and difficulty creating future storylines and/or long-term booking since you cannot assume people are medically cleared to work from week to week. Look at all the money programs you might have to throw the brakes on because one of them gets hurt doing something dumb that few people even saw and no one will remember in a couple weeks.

This right here. Might as well start calling them "signatures" because the finish rate anymore is pretty terrible.

Not having jobbers' matches every week to sell the "finishers" as match enders like the ond days has something to do with it as well.

Razor's Edge/ Outsiders Edge was very protected because Scott Hall wouldn't use it if he was going to lose.

Mitsuharu Misawa Emerald Flowsion Kai was protected. I don't recal anyone kicking out of it.

Shinya Hashimoto vertical drop brainbuster was protected.
