Most masterful infighting performances?

Dwight Muhammad Qawi's victories over James Scott, Matthew Saad Muhammad ( twice ) & Eddie Davis were masterclasses on infighting. And even though he lost the fight he took Evander Holyfield to school on the inside in their first fight.

Chavez/Rosario, a thudding puncher-brawler totally nullifying a devastating puncher with short punches and in too close for Rosario's power. Duran leonard is a good one but ray could have made it a different fight.

Duran/Palomino
Duran/SRL 1
Duran/Buchanan
Duran/Moore
Patterson/Grant
Fullmer/Casteliani
Armstrong/Ross
Armstrong/CC 2
Bowe/Holyfield 1
Harada/Kingpetch 1
Frazier/Quarry 1
Frazier/Chuvalo
Frazier/Ellis
Fenech/Nelson 1
Fenech/Villasana

From this past decade

Estrada/Gonzalez is prolly the only one Id name

Porter/Spence was prolly the funnest infighting bout of this past decade but it wasnt masterful work

I thought some of mayweathers inside/off the ropes stuff vs cotto was pretty awesome. Cotto did have some success there but nothing like he is used too. Esp. Against the smaller guy.

Would Hagler/Hearns count?

and perhaps Joe Frazier's performances vs Ali in the 1st and 3rd fights?

Why wouldn't it? More than most: Hagler forced and fought an inside fight against a guy who had all the tools to keep the fight at his preferred range (mid-range) and all the firepower to punish him at either distance. Marvin went through hell and back in that short fight and came out on top. It's as impressive an exhibition in closing the distance and getting inside a bigger/rangier man's punches in order to deliver short vicious attacks as we've seen in the modern era. Not even Duran could pull it off. Huge balls. Huge skills.

Toney Jirov was awesome too

Incredible fight, incredibly underrated, that fight, you see James Toney just show why he and only he could fight that beautifully on the inside, master technician, smooth as fucking butter in that fight, and lethal.

Indeed...one of the best fights ever

Jeff Fenech vs Samart Payakaroon. It was a classic match up between a great mover in Samart who despite his MT background was a boxer who liked to be very mobile and evasive and an out and out pressure fighting infighter in Fenech. It started out with Samart out manoeuvring Fenech and even dropping him for the first time in his career but then the tide turned with Fenech's immense pressure, ring cutting skills and fierce in-fighting ability turning the tide. By round 4 it was all over and arguably the greatest Muay Thai fighter of all time had his comeuppance in the sweet science by the superior infighter.

It doesn't really stand out as masterful because of how good both men were, but the Toney vs. McCallum fights had some really beautiful inside work from both men.
