Most intimidating fighter past or present?

GSPs gameface is legendary bro, yea after a few rounds his opponents would finally come to but have no energy to do anything but get UDd.

GSP's one of my favorites but if you said I don't want anymore he's so respectful he would stop and help you up if you ever got into a fight with him.

Personally I don't find Ronda intimidating she likes to smile and have a good time. She's someone I could probably go out with and chill with. Cyborg is more intimidating..as a woman.

Youre right about Cyborg but way off about Ronda, her tenacity and focus along with her physical attributes and reputation are quite intimidating,, forget about hollywood Ronda, Rowdy Ronda is a beast.

Ralph gracie check him out just before his fight at pride bushido 1. Dude literially looks like a psychopath

Cain Velasquez is the only man that has made JDS look genuinely scared before the fight begins.

didnt see this at all. jds looked very confident imo

prime randleman when he first entered ufc, very intimidating guy

Bearded aleks, he makes bread look murderous

He didn't even fight his way into the house, but when I first saw Tim Williams I thought, "Holy shit, that guy is terrifying. He looks like something out of a movie." Sunken, blank eyes, bald head, facial scars, ZERO emotion...the guy looks like he wouldn't hesitate to mow down women in a rice paddy from a Huey.

Relatives?

Without a doubt Brock a guy that big snarling at you no thank you.

I did think Brock was very intimidating at first especially with those interviews where they are talking about Mir breaking his leg..

Prime Wand was something to behold. Bouncing up and down, rolling his wrists, he looked like a damn drag car reving up to come straight at you!

Intimidating to who, fans or other fighters? Sorry for the question, but there's a difference.

For other fighters I would guess it is the really great fighters with finishing ability or the ability to really fucking hurt you. I would guess guys like Anderson Silva, Fedor, Cain, JDS, Wandy and GSP are up there. Guys are excited to fight the champ, but I bet that there is a point in the fight where they know they can't win.

For fans it's the scary looking guys like Brock, Overeem, etc..

The Freakshow, aesthetically, is a nightmare, reminds me of the clown in the movie "It".

if we talk of all combat sports i'd say Tyson and pride days Wand were scary dudes
the diamond was intimidating too. i had the pleasure to be in a couple seminars with him. R.I.P. Legend

Fedor for me. He didn't need all that throat slashing hopping around shit. You could see it in his eyes.

TBH that huffing and puffing, bouncing around, mean mugging, throat slashing shit that guys like Wand and Thiago Silva do just seem like insecurity to me.

Not saying they are, but when I see that I just think of try hard tough guys. There's just nothing really cool about it imo unless you are in the just bleed/let me bang demographic.

I know they'd probably kick my ass but when I see that stuff it just makes me want to laugh more than anything. Just doesn't seem genuine.

Please. Probably the least intimidating of all, hell the guy doesnt even look opponents in the eyes. If you are talking aura, that is not the same.

lolnoob

These quotes are from Mind Games: Psychological Warfare in MMA, an article in issue 56 of Fighters Only magazine.

The psychologist quoted is Joe Bell:

"The best when it comes to the staredown is Fedor Emelianenko. Watch him: he does not make eye contact and his entire expression is extremely relaxed - you would think he is about to sit down for dinner or something.

"But here is the crucial thing. When the referee tells them to head back to their corners, Fedor suddenly darts a short look directly at his opponent - or through his opponent, I should say.

"This kind of look is associated with antisocial behavioural disorders and psychopaths. They don't look at you, they look through you. It's emotionless, it goes deeper than skin level.

"You will get a lot of fighters who will catch that look and suddenly realise they don't want to be there.
