Vader not only is synonymous with Star Wars, Vader has surpassed Star Wars becoming a cultural icon known internationally.

The most used and copied is probably Count Dracula. Hell, even Sesame Street has one and don't forget Count Chocula cereal lol. Vader is the best and best conceived especially if you consider the entire character arc. But "most famous"? Satan, I suppose. Most religions have a version of the devil so most people have heard of him.
