he was such a complete MMA fighter so early in the game. fuck i miss the days i got excited for fights.

he was a true rock star in the gracie feud. The crowd treated him as a God.

Hed come to the ring with blonde and red hair,and then one day he came out with half blonde half red hair,and something small like that made the crowd go crazy. He had to keep outdoing it. I think when he fought Royce,he had his wrestling mask on but it was three dudes with the mask,and all three were in their side of the ring the whole time like all 3 would fight royce. Even the announcer pointed to all of them...and then when he said Kazushi sakuraba,the middle one pulled his mask off. Crowd went bananas.

That was the greatest goddamn thing i ever seen or saw.

Got into MMA somewhat late and never watched Pride while it was still going and I missed Sakuraba's prime but after reading up on him and watching some of his fights I'm amazed. He is a warrior and an amazing fighter. I'm in awe!

Yeah I used to just like the UFC but when I discovered Sakuraba he made me fall in love with MMA. He made MMA exciting without being some deadly striker and no one has ever or likely will ever come close to replicating the aura he brought to MMA. Man was just different and is definitely in my top 3 favorite fighters of all time.

Sak was a pioneer in that he was really one of the guys who fully embraced the concept that mma could be entertaining.
