One of my best memories of my dad was watching pepe le pew cartoons with him when i was real little. When the cat would run away from him and hed just do that prancy little hop goin mad slow,my dad would go "Watch,somehow He's still gonna catch up to her,son"

Night Garden was like a fucking acid trip.

Another thing that threw me about Night Garden was the Pontypines. Specifically when they show you the Pontypines there's an exterior shot of the house. You hear a doorbell and sometimes the wife yells "WEEDEEEEEEE!!" in response.

But she doesn't do it all the time. So at some point somebody on the show actually gave thought to whether or not that voice clip needed to be in there. "Nah guv, we gotta dial back on that WEEDEEEEEEE!! That's just too much."

Sid the Science Kid. It was on when my kids were little. First place tie for every character.

So much this. As a kid that show really bothered me. Penny did all the work and her uncle got all the credit.

I guess it set kids up with the disappoinment of completing group projects at school.

Slightly (way) off topic but my one son found this random version of baby shark in Spanish and one of the chicks singing it had enormous jugs. For about a week he was starting each morning off by watching it. My wife deleted the history though so now I can’t find it.

Props to whoever mentioned Elmo. When I was a kid, Sesame Street taught you stuff to prepare you for school: phonics, basic math, pattern recognition, the concept that there are different languages, etc.

When Elmo came along, the show became a segment for selling Elmo toys. I have no idea what his role was other than to be "cute". He was a money maker not a tool for learning.

Do kids even watch Sesame workshop programs now?
