Moss vs Megatron w poll

Could be the best wr of all time, and it's still a consensus that he took GAMES off, didn't run routes well, and relied on talent alone.

Still had the goat receiving season. That's one man - moss

Unfortunately talent alone does not make a player the greatest ever. That's why I and many others still put Rice in a class of his own.

Moss by a lot. I never heard Killer Mike do a verse about Megatron.

They didn't...they often let up in the second half

Even though I think Moss is the clear answer, the 07 Pats did infamously run up the score.

I remember when they were up like 45-3 on the Bills with five minutes left in the game and went for it on 4th and goal from the 5.

But, anyways, as a Packers fan, I've had the misfortune of facing both two times a year over many years. Moss was a far scarier game day opponent. He may not have the jump-ball skills/strength of Calvin, but his insane speed and fluidity changed the entire dynamic of the defense. It stretched it 15 yards regardless of down. A 4.25 40 doesn't do Moss' straight line speed justice at all. He was also an underrated route runner, in my opinion. He could run the crispest routes. He just didn't a lot of the time. If I'm choosing whether my team faces Megatron or Moss, I'm facing Megatron every time.

Yeah, I'll take this one against the best corner on the planet.

Definition of smooth and effortless.

Those are my favorite Moss gifs. The ones where he knows he has the touchdown only five yards off the line. Not because he has a step on the defensive back, but because the defensive back only has one step on him.

Megatron has already had 3 seasons in which he has averaged 100 yards a game. How many seasons will it be by the time he's retired? 5 or 6? Randy has only had one such season.

He's the modern day Jim Brown at WR. Truly Unprecedented Dominance

I would want Megatron over Moss on my team in any era on any team. End of Story

Love it. He makes Revis make one tiny mistake and immediately throws the hand up. They're essentially stride for stride and he still knows he's got him beat.

If you're going by that, Moss had 5 seasons average 1 TD a game. Calvin has had 1. When I get time at work, I'll adjust each players production per league average in the corresponding year and you'll see just how much more dominant Moss was. The only real argument for Calvin over Moss is that he's more dependable because he's never taken plays off or had his attitude/worth ethic questioned. And that's valid. But, Moss wins in both talent and production.

And LOL @ "unprecedented." People really need to stop using that term. Megatron isn't even a real statistical outlier.

Dennis Rodman's rebounding outliers in the 90s: THAT'S an example of something unprecedented.

Absurdity

Johnny U isn't even one of the best 3 top qbs of all time in the pre 1978 era.

You just outed yourself as knowing nothing about football.

You beat me to it^

Actually, this is kind of a trap thread, because it doesn't specify what we are measuring

More talented? Moss
More dominant? Moss
Who would I rather have on my team? Megatron

It would seem I'm answering relative to the first two. Judging by PUO3's first response, looks like he's answering by the third.

Moss was better in some areas but Megatron certainly holds some advantages also. Moss can blow the top off of any defense, moreso than anyone else ever has. Ridiculous speed.

Megatron is more versatile and more physical, the dude can do anything you ask him to. DBs literally bounce off of him. Randy never had anywhere close to the level of strength Megatron plays with, and while this may be a pass happy league, DBs keep getting bigger and stronger along with it. People seem to ignore that.

But ya, agreed Id rather have Megatron on my team also. Randy was a diva.

Moss was better. His 2007 season is probably the most impressive WR season of all time. His TD receptions and catching deep passes are more impressive than Rice or Megatron's big yardage years, imo.

Megatron will finish with better stats and isn't a headcase.

If I'm a GM and can have one or the other I take Megatron.

LMAO. This is easily one of the dumbest things I've ever read. The self-exposure level is at maximum.

If he ever shows back up I'm sure he'll have some can argument based on individual statistics.

Randy Moss had 17 TDs as a rookie. That stat alone will never be matched again for a wideout.
