This was released like a day ago, had no idea it was coming out. I might get it when it goes on sale, it has multiplayer.

I love classic MK and have a ton of nostalgia for it. Mortal Kombat II is one of my favorite games. I was going to get this and a copy for my brother, but now I am hearing that you can't even play with your friends at launch. That is mind boggling in 2025. No cross platform play, either. Damn. Then there are just some weird decisions and exclusions. Why didn't they add the Game Boy Color port of Mortal Kombat 4? Digital Eclipse actually developed it! Maybe they're embarrassed of that one. (They should be.)

Edit: Holy shit! Thanks to all the talk around this collection, I just learned today that the SNES version of MK II has a 4v4 endurance mode, activated by holding L and R and pressing Start at the main menu. I have played hundreds of hours of that game and had never heard of this. Awesome.

From what I have gathered, there isn't any AI-generated content in the game. And it's not $69.99. So, don't put too much stock into that particular tweet, no, lol. No lobbies and no cross play is total dog shit, though. I won't pick it up unless those issues are fixed.

No, others have been complaining about the same things. There's broken audio as well. No lobbies or ranked is insane. Fuck that.

I bought it. Its letter boxed on the TV with a cheesy tube television outline. Also couldnt find a way to get back to the main menu once I started playing one of the games

Maybe you're right then. Game is currently mixed on Steam. Review outlets were praising it. Very bizarre to see them not mention any of this. Wasn't going to buy it until Christmas. Hopefully it's fixed by then.

The following issues have been addressed in this hotfix update:


  • Improved audio buffer for online play
  • Restore missing audio in 32X MKII
  • General improvements to MK4
  • Fixed issue that caused UMK3 to reboot after Scorpion fatality
  • General stability improvements for Genesis titles
  • Pause button hold time reduced by 50%
  • One-Button Fatalities added for all arcade titles
  • General stability updates to Music Player
Additional fixes will be addressed in the coming days in another update.

I'll be getting it on both PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Nice collection of MK games.

That’s the one I was hoping for. I rented it once then never got to see it again. Always wanted to finish it.
