Read this article or one like it some years ago, in which they found out that most people play "the good guy" when playing games. Only going the evil route on second play troughs.

Myself I have a hard time doing the "evil" choices even the second time I play, for some reason I feel bad for the people when doing it even if they are just a script and some graphics. I guess maybe I am too immersed or something.

What do you guys do? "Kill all humans" or knight in shining armor?

Weird
They should've given the statistics of the age of gamers polled.

I'm always looking for exploits in video games, even if I have to be the bad guy.
My younger self would've most likely picked the good guy hero since the media portrays the hero as someone who always wins.

Good guy checking in.

Tried to be an asshole in my recent second playthrough of "The Witcher 3" to experience a different story, but it just felt uncomfortable, so reverted back to basically replicating my first playthrough.

Humanity has hope with this study.

Lol. I've been guilty of this too. I'm currently on my first play through in Skyrim, I never steal and help out people whenever I can. I even adopted a kid ffs :D

That's basically what I do.

Why feel bad about it? Its a fictional world, and it's not 'you' that is doing it but a fictional character.

Don't be 'fraid, hommie.

Funny, I also feel empathy when playing rpg video games... but I also play with a shoot first ask questions later style, anytime I encounter danger or resistance to my goals. Sometimes the wrong people get smoked.

Even when I play bad usually just more an asshole than villain.

I help everyone and have a kid but i constantly steal peoples gold

Yeah its odd because in most War Games like Call of Duty they only give you the option to play the bad guys.

Usually i'm a good guy. The exception is Star Wars games like Old Republic where it's much more interesting to fall to the darkside.

I always go hero first. It's the best way to learn the lay of the land and get through the initial run. Then I make adjustments.
First time through Fallout 4 I was a righteous avenger because I had no idea how annoying EVERY character you meet would be. After that, every play through was a bloodbath.

I did a chest glitch when I first started the game. It took a couple hours of grinding, but I ended up with around 70,000 gold to start out with.

I need Adams.

People may be under the impression that taking the "good" route will further the story or open up more possibilities within the game. Official challenges tend to reward good behaviour as well.

Though I should say that the last game I played where you were really given the choice was probably Fable.

Ally til I die (although I don't play anymore lol).

But would wield Frostmourne, don the helm, and Lich King it up if possible.

Maxed out both a good and evil character in the original Fable on OG Xbox.

I try to be the good guy but games like Fallout twist shit around so to be the good guy you have to wipe out anything that isn't human if you want to keep the BoS dicks happy.

Bad Guy checking for KOTOR.
That is actually one of the few games where I didnt mind playing the bad guy for some reason. Played through as good guy first but then I went full dark side and it was a lot of fun.

For some reason you almost never get punished in any way for being the bad guy in games either, you just get more stuff and an easier road to the goal.
