I use GS on team hunts where the monster is ignoring me a lot of the time. Solo you’re right though, seconds matter.

Even if your argument is that you are on multi player hunts how do you justify not having focus for GS? More attacks is better than a slightly higher damage from 1 charged attack. This is why you break disks playing it on unintended extra difficulty mode

I’m typically target destroyer and in the kill cam. Also I don’t see the point of quick sheath, if you’re sprinting and press triangle the swing is instantaneous. Maybe for setting up the Hail Mary on a sleeping monster it’s worth it

Maybe ear plugs is good on other monsters, my test was on an elder dragon and it makes sense they would roar loudly enough to break through

Honestly the burst damage sections on elder dragons are usually after flashpods when they fly.

You might be right, I haven’t even figured out how to do the two tackles into a true charge yet. I also quit using CB because the phial shit became too complicated <45>

LOL I don't blame you on the CB. I think it's the most complicated weapon after hunting horn TBH.

People complained that it’s OP but you have to charge the phials, then the shield, then the phials again, then hope the monster stays still long enough to hit the SAED. It’s really distracting.

You just have to play it until it's something you don't really have to pay attention to is all. The other thing is the number of phials you use to charge things matters a lot because it adds time onto how long it stays charged. If you are using 6 phials because you have capacity boost you are only charging the shield every 3 or so minutes. That means in a 10 min fight you probably charge it 3 times. Charge blade probably benefits as much from knowing fights as GS as well in that you can read when to SAED based on certain tells. It is OP if you are hitting heads. I can hit 1000-1400 damage headshots (total damage physical + Phials) which also often results in a knockout ala hammer. That's pretty OP because by the time that scenario is over the boss has lost 1/4 to 1/3 of it's health total if your group has ok DPS. The thing is you pretty much have to main CB to be able to do this regularly. I also think CB benefits greatly from gear... it's playstyle changes dramatically when you have artillery 3 and capacity boost. The phials are much more consistent damage than the physical hits from the axe and you can hit the phial damage from pretty far away.

Gonna farm Nergigante for parts for the Catastrophe's Light Insect Glaive it's supposed to be really good. Time to get back to using melee, i've been using the bow for a while now.

I had to resort to switching to bow and it wasn't very developed so I asked my clanmates to help me. After 4 attempts they all switched to bows and we cleared it easily. Those fuckers were bitches. I jumped to HR48 once I cleared it.

I am going to have to spend a day or two practicing the different type of weapons properly. Positive I am not using it to max effect. My bow skills at pathetically weak as of now.

Favorite is the sword and shield followed with the dualies but I think there's better out there.

Usually solo just because I play late. Only joined an SOS twice because I always "fail to join quest" and get bored of trying after a dozen attempts. But you're right, I should spread the love and send out SOS flares more often.

the trick is you gotta be quick on the trigger to join an SOS. Hit join, and then go through the list as quickly as possible and then join as soon as you like one. If not, exit out and join again to get a fresher batch of SOS missions. I look for particular missions/bosses and higher level people who don't mind when lower level players join. You learn through them as they carry you.

Wow the insect glaive is so much fun to use. Been doing low tier tempered hunts to get used to the move set. Using the kinsect for buffs and status effects is still confusing me though.

I tried using that thing on Diablos and it took forever. Kept trying to aim the insects at him and calling them back. rolling around and aiming them is fun though. I never even messed with changing them though. You can customize what they do right?

I've been wrecking stuff with it, just took down Nergigante in 9 mins, if i was using the bow it would have took around 20 mins. I've grasped how to use the kinsect, firing it at different body parts gives you different buffs then you recall it when it changes colour.

Yeah i have one that creates a blast effect its really good.

Yeah you definitely should, this is my favorite weapon already and i've only finished like 10 hunts with it.

Luckily i played MH on the 3DS before this so i knew what to expect for the most part. Just keep plugging away, guys like Dinkin have been a god send for info about the game, it can be quite daunting at times. Remember you can sell trash materials at the end of hunts and you can also sell from the item box. Anything that says "trade in item" on the item description should be sold.

You can do it you just have to keep working at it and practicing! Find a mob that isn't too bad for you to kill and kill it a bunch to sell it's parts for money btw! You can make big bank selling monsters parts when you don't need them anymore!
