Monster Hunter...Enlighten Me

I've been using Safi blast Great Sword as of late and man, does that thing do some damage. It's the first weapon that I've fully upgraded (3x sharpness V, element up V and sharpness VI).

Also bought Xeno HBG II. I've convinced myself that any gun with recoil and long reloads are bullshit and after adding 3x recoil dampening, reload and shield, the gun is just too weak, with too poor of a guard to be effective.

I've played this game a lot for over a year. I may switch to Outer World's or Witcher 3 for a bit.

I have a Safi GS with 3 attack V, attack VI and Teostra technique. With a health augment to boot. I have also played this a lot but can't find anything else to play. Bought Death Stranding but that game is dog shit.

Put around 200 hours in vanilla MHW. Is it worth it to jump back in for Iceborne? I'm just afraid I've forgotten what all the stuff does in the game. I hate that about time sink games, feels too daunting to jump back in at times ...

Honestly, I don't consider it to be too much of a time-sink.

Just set up a quest and fight a monster for 10-20 minutes.

Iceborne is well worth it. Practically doubles the size of the game.

Damn, here we go again for another 200 hours.

As a returning rusty hunter (who wasn't all that great to begin with, I just mess around), that Barrioth gave me all I can handle. Not to proud to admit that sabretooth goon pimpslapped me across the map a couple of times. I beat him last night though with 2 minutes on the clock or so. Thank god I brought shock traps and tranq bombs to end his night early lol.

Mostly a greatsword and longsword player here btw

Just started Iceborne. Thought i was shit outta luck when the first hunt is for Beotodus and i hate fighting the piscine monsters. Was totally unprepared but it turned out to be a very enjoyable fight. Got slapped about a fair bit but eventually found my rhythm and brought the fucker down.

Lovin' the new HQ as well.

Just captured a Barioth. A tough fight as he's very fast and and hits hard. I can see why people were comparing him to Nergigante, although i got past Barioth first time.

So far my most troublesome fight has been the Coral Pukei-Pukei. That thing really does the damage to ranged hunters.

I'm already 30 hours in again and have only just beaten Glavenus lol
It's just too damn fun cleaning out all my old optional quests. I'm also one of those losers that will grind for and make every single armor in the game.
Having lots of fun just responding to random SOS flares. Even helping people out with dudes like vanilla Nerg and such, which I'm already a bit OP for, but he's just so much fun to hunt and I just like helping people out with whatever.

I don't see a lot of toxicity either, just people helping eachother out and trying to keep one another alive. Maybe there's some grandstanding and whining in the upper echelons in MR with these die hard "meta build hunters" but whatever. Overall I think MHW has a nice community. The stickers and such help a lot too in communicating with Japanese players.

The new hook mechanic is freaking awesome. Nothing beats smashing a monster's mouth full of slinger ammo and then seeing him crash face first into a wall haha

Tigrex is an absolute motherfucker. The amount of times he brought me close to carting with one or two hits, and he doesn't stop coming.

It isn't something i look forward to fighting again. I tend to go in blind against new monsters and defeat it alone with no help of any kind. Unless i get pummeled consistently(Nerg) i don't look at guides or anything like that.

Now that fight is out the way i looked at videos of how other archers have fought it and how i can do better next time. There is a very simple way of stopping it's charges so if i have to fight it again i should be able to counter it's most dangerous attack.

He was the monster that made me switch to Lance when I used to play MHFU.

I'd use HBG or bow before, but his charge always homed in on me, no matter how much I rolled or ran.

He has REALLY bad hitboxes in World too. Nearly criminal. And they haven't been patched.

Generally I can go tit-for-tat with it, but I always get caught when behind its wing and it charges.

I'd rather deal with the NHW version though. That charge was horrid.
