Molecular biology and evolution

Most mutations likely aren't beneficial which is why many species died out. We see it today in humans with birth defects. Most are detrimental, some don't have much effect but on rare occasions a beneficial mutation comes along. A genius or a great athlete may be the result. Think of a lottery. Nobody wins very often but sooner or later somebody does. While a winner is inevitable in a lottery, it is not so in life.

yeah. He called me flat chested. Thats just mean!
Evolve at E. coli-like speed and reincarnate with a lil' sum-sum'n up top next time, eh

A lot of people that have never studied it, operate under the assumption evolution is some intelligent system designed to create "perfect" beings, but that's not the case. It's entirely random. Whatever raises the odds of survival is more likely to be passed on, but that's survival for the current environment.

Look at the horrible design of the human knee, or how you can die from brain swelling after a head injury, which is a response designed to protect you. Or sickle cell, an adaptive response to fight malaria that pretty much only fucks you up these days.

Latest research indicates that beneficial mutations are highly unlikely to occur if the process was random. And if no beneficial changes occur, natural selection has no reason to pick you :p

came here to post this.

I predict that the more we advance in fundamentals sciences the more we'll realize how wrong we are in respect to origins of life and theory of evolution. Whenever the word random is thrown out there it's to point out that we don't understand the underlying cause. Attributing something to randomness is not explaining it.

The earth does not exist. Its made up by the man to keep us under control and to pay taxes.

Flat earth is a scam made up by the CIA to control the people.
Flat earth people are sheep that cant see the full picture.
You have eyes that see. I like you, cat-woman

True, most mutations are not beneficial. Which means they lower fitness, which means the odds of them being passed on are much lower. Unless other mutations exist that are so beneficial they can compensate for them. It's only with modern medical technology that we've been able to raise the odds of negative mutations being passed on.

Evolution is pretty solid, and can even be observed in laboratory settings using organisms with a rapid life cycle. The origin of life however is not known, we have only guesses.

aint no sheep.
Schyter is a CIA shill
You a cat in wolf's clothing, adapted to living like a dog who shepherds freethinking men into corrals of misconsciousness that be so cold, all said men come to wear woollen socks and hats as they dance for the man, bark for the man, and one day themselves become in fact women, who don't know what lavatory to use; ergo, the CIA blame microbiology for the sheep at their door.

Behe's bullshit has been thoroughly debunked over and over.

There is a reason his nonsense isn't accepted by science, and it's not a conspiracy

Debunked? If anything, his concept of irreducible complexity has been proven right. If you're not satisfied you can run the simulations yourself: https://schneider.ncifcrf.gov/papers/ev/

IC is very obvious on a molecular level. How can mutations+natural selection occur if there is no life to begin with? Know any rocks that have mutated recently and are competing against sand? Mutation requires life, life requires some mechanism to replicate, said mechanism requires a system involving many parts and removing one kills any chances of reproducing. Thus Behe's argument that the first life had to come together is pretty sound.

You see the light my brother!
