There are so many more defensive techniques in 12 oz gloves it's a whole other ball game compared to 4oz. MMA gloves basically offer no defense. Either way whenever you see MMA guys hop into boxing they lose their power usually. Much of the power is from 4oz gloves which literally are only there to protect your knuckles. if you think 4oz and 12oz are basically the same then you are braindead.my brother in Christ, 12oz pro style fight gloves are tiny. Just big enough to cover the 2 full rolls of gauze and whole roll of tape used per hand for fighters that size. Yes, they weigh more and offer more protection than mma gloves but calling them, “big ass” gloves makes it seem as if they’re 16oz gloves built for sparring and not what they are which is hand protection allowing hwt’s to throw with full power without fear of breaking their hands.
you referred to pro boxing gloves as, “big ass gloves “. They aren’t. That was my point. There are so many more defensive techniques in 12 oz gloves it's a whole other ball game compared to 4oz. He's not even 6'7. Hafthor is 6'8 and was significantly taller. Fury was tiptoeing for pics.I mean if Fury wasn't like 6'7"-6'9" you would have a point about the height thing with the peekaboo style but the point of it is to get inside the range of a bigger taller guy which Fury is. I don't know if Ngannou has the cardio for it either but he doesn't have to grapple and that's generally a lot more tiring than striking.
He looked to be at least 3 inches taller than Ngannou when both were in the ring. Hard to determine height when everyone's wearing shoes. He's not even 6'7. Hafthor is 6'8 and was significantly taller. Fury was tiptoeing for pics.
I'd guess 6'5 or 6'6 based on that.
Tyson told him in personWould love to see Dana's reaction when he first heard his hero Mike Tyson is training Francis lmao
That was my one and only point. The guard is harder to get through with boxing gloves. MMA gloves are basically offense only, there's not much area you can block with them vs boxing gloves (12oz). And yes they are 3x as big as mma gloves so they are big ass gloves in comparison. There's a defensive aspect in boxing almost completely missing in mma because of the size of gloves, it's a huge deal. Even in kickboxing defense is way different, look at Overeem defensively in K1 vs MMA, it's much harder to get a clean hit.you referred to pro boxing gloves as, “big ass gloves “. They aren’t. but hey, enlighten me. Explain to me all of the many, many defensive techniques available with in pro style boxing gloves compared to MMA. You can block punches a little easier with them, and….?
Lmao or it's just the easiest pay day of his careerTyson may be willing to work with Ngannou moving forward, see this win or lose as a starting point perhaps. Or it could represent how he is trying to mold a MMA champion into a boxer.
Shoes and lies all over, indeed hard to determineHe looked to be at least 3 inches taller than Ngannou when both were in the ring. Hard to determine height when everyone's wearing shoes.
they are 3x the weight, not 3x the size. I understand your point. when you said,That was my one and only point. The guard is harder to get through with boxing gloves. All good. Think it was miscommunication. My bad for everything on my side that sounded confusing.they are 3x the weight, not 3x the size. I understand your point. when you said,
“There are so many more defensive techniques in 12 oz gloves”
I thought you meant more than the single technique of “using the backside of them to block a punch”. My mistake.
all good. It’s still a pretty exciting fight for us fansAll good. Think it was miscommunication. My bad for my side.
They use 10oz gloves and 8oz gloves in the pros not 12.There are so many more defensive techniques in 12 oz gloves it's a whole other ball game compared to 4oz. MMA gloves basically offer no defense. Ngannou’s best tiny chance is probably catching Fury with a looping punch, not out technique him. Didn’t Wilder catch Fury like that in the first fight?
