Molding a champion : Tyson training Ngannou

Francis may learn somethings from Tyson but once the fight starts it will go out the window.
Francis swings for the fences until he catches someone. Mike tysons style was much more compact and about getting inside and doing damage with short punches.
Francis is to old to be learning a completely new style

Mike Tyson has become such a role model since leaving boxing.
In addition to being one of the greatest boxers in history, he's overcome a lot of demons, did his time, paid his dues, grew as a man and person, and became an inspiration to so many.
All respect to Mike Tyson !

I know it’s a gimmick but do you think fury is disheartened by the man he was named after choosing to train his opponent?

Ngannou’s best tiny chance is probably catching Fury with a looping punch, not out technique him. Didn’t Wilder catch Fury like that in the first fight?

Which 6'4 guy was successful with the peak a boo style?
I doubt Francis has the cardio for it

That's actually a great point.

A really good trainer trains a fighter for his style, and for his physique.

Ngannou is not a "bob-n-weave" built fighter.

He's a long fighter, who should have a really good jab, shovel-hook, and right-cross.

Ngannou needs someone to get his power to carry to 12 rounds in boxing, until then boxers are going to use their big ass gloves and footwork to avoid those power shots and then turn up as soon as he's gassed. The idea that a mma fighter can hop in with a pro boxer is absurd, they simply have no conditioning for going the distance and they have to adjust too much of their usual striking game to boxing as far as where they can hit. To do it against someone like Fury who has been doing only boxing for decades is ridiculous.

The only way you get your power to carry multiple rds is by fighting many many many rds, there's no easy way around it.

I mean if Fury wasn't like 6'7"-6'9" you would have a point about the height thing with the peekaboo style but the point of it is to get inside the range of a bigger taller guy which Fury is. I don't know if Ngannou has the cardio for it either but he doesn't have to grapple and that's generally a lot more tiring than striking.

Good point. That's how Wilder carries that power until the end, you can never count him out.

boxers are going to use their big ass gloves
my brother in Christ, 12oz pro style fight gloves are tiny. Just big enough to cover the 2 full rolls of gauze and whole roll of tape used per hand for fighters that size. Yes, they weigh more and offer more protection than mma gloves but calling them, “big ass” gloves makes it seem as if they’re 16oz gloves built for sparring and not what they are which is hand protection allowing hwt’s to throw with full power without fear of breaking their hands.

Is mike a good teacher and Ngannou willing to learn proper boxing in such a short time?

to be honest i don't know and given the artermath of Mcg vs Floyd (with Mcg having better striking than Francis) i see this as a loss.
