Moicano fighting for the title was like a turtle in a tree

Given the original opponent pulled out, Moicano I think had the longest active win streak in top 10 or something (Dana said this on the pre fight video?) and the way he dismantled BSD in a pretty impressive and high profile way, there was no issue with this fight.

Islam makes many people look like a fish out of water

"this is disrespect"
it's not like he is the first person to lose in the first round at a title fight

he got caught in a trap that he doesn't even trained for, shit happens

Given the performance, I think Moicano would agree... he's always game on the trash talking and he knows that you cant always be dishing, sometimes you got take it as it comes.

Anyone who thought he had a chance is insane.

They should have canceled the fight. This does nobody any favors. For Moraco, it's a loss on his record. I'm sure he wanted to fight Islam but with a camp and more than five minutes notice. As I understand it he wasn't even an understudy for this fight.

And it doesn't do Islam any favors because people are already questioning his resume. Does anyone think this will do anything but stoke those fires?

Dana's a tool. He doesn't care about the fans and he clearly doesn't care about Islam either.

To be fair, training for Darius is way different than Islam. Likely Islam has a more well rounded camp for Arman. Last minute Islam is probably the best chance he had for a hail Mary KO which is most likely his best chance.

There are levels, yes. Islam is on a level by himself.

All things considered Moicano did well. Not many people visibly drop and fluster Islam. We all knew he would get worked on the ground as Islam is a finisher in the grappling department.

Moicano looked like he understood he will never hold the belt last night.

I think we get amnesia- this division has had 2-3 fighters that are beyond everyone else for a long time now, between Chuck, Islam, and Arman; this is much like Illia, Max, and Volk. No one else is seriously going to win the title against those guys until someone new and better comes along.

Modern era UFC doesn't have the litter of unskilled low and mid-level fighters that it once did, but it does NOT have more elite fighters. Unless of course we are talking about LHW and HW, which are considerably worse than that- they have devolved badly since the old days when there were numerous well-rounded fighters in the higher weights.

Didn't watch it live but after watching a replay Moicano had his moments

At least he landed a knockdown.

The gif doesn't quite do it justice cause it looks like he's hitting air but that THUD when he landed his short hook was loud
