Olivia Cooke Cast as the Female Lead in READY PLAYER ONE

Olivia-Cooke-Ready-Player-One-Dragonlord.jpg

Olivia Cooke, who starred in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, has nabbed the female lead in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One and is in negotiations. Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow are behind the movie, which adapts the best-selling sci-fi novel by Ernie Cline, and is in the thick of searching for its stars.

The story is set in a virtual world called Oasis, in which a teenager finds himself competing in a treasure hunt against ruthless foes after the game's founder dies and offers his fortune as the grand prize. Cooke would play the teen’s love interest and competitor, a Canadian blogger named Sam whose name in the virtual world is Art3mis.

Spielberg has been reading actors in Los Angeles and New York with the hope of finding both the male and female leads at the same time. That hasn’t happened and the hunt for the male continues, though Cooke rose to the top after tests that included Elle Fanning and Lola Kirke (Mozart in the Jungle, Gone Girl).

The role is major breakthrough for Cooke, a rising talent who’s been working mostly in the indie world, while also appearing on A&E’s Bates Motel. She received a big career boost with Dying Girl, the indie that won the Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was picked up Fox Searchlight. Cooke is also on the shortlist for one of the Star Wars anth movies.

I really enjoyed the first Jeepers Creepers. The second one was pretty weak but i thought it had a good ending.

New Images of Apocalypse and Costumes in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Either those first official images and the leaked footage from Comic-Con featured an unfinished look at Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse or Fox has taken fan complaints/ridicule about his purple hue to heart and since decided to fix his colouring with a more classic greyish blue in post. Either way, X-Men: Apocalypse's titular villain looks a lot better in this leaked image from @XMenNewz.

A new photo has found its way online from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, and as you can see, it shows off Ben Hardy's Archangel costume in its full glory. We've caught glimpses before now, but no doubt the most intriguing feature here are those facial tattoos. This clearly isn't the classic Warren Worthington III from the comic books anyway. Olivia Munn still looks downright amazing.

Jake is 6 feet tall. All the films I've seen him portrayed him as such.

Looking at the SUV scene in the trailer you mentioned, he seemed tall to me. Maybe you have to also consider his posture.

Edit: Here's the pic.

Shedog has a height fetish. It's weird.
I see people calling McGregor 5'2 and Faber as 4'11. No lie.

Eva Green and Sean Bean Up for WONDER WOMAN Villains?

Wonder-Woman-Eva-Green-Sean-Bean-Dragonlord.jpg

With production slated to begin this November in London, casting for Wonder Woman is currently underway. According to Heroic Hollywood's Umberto Gonzalez, actors Sean Bean and Eva Green are being eyed by Warners for villain roles. Sean Bean is being considered for Ares, the God of War, while Eva Green is being eyed for Circe, the Sorceress.

Warner Bros. loves to work with the same people. Sean Bean was previously in Troy and Jupiter Ascending for the studio while Eva Green was is Dark Shadows and 300: Rise Of An Empire. Green was badass in the 300 sequel. It's easy to see her as wicked Sorceress going toe to toe with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Ned Stark as the God Of War? Bean would absolutely crush it as Ares! Both Ares and Circe are based on Greek mythological figures and are considered Wonder Woman's biggest adversaries in the comics.

Again, the studio is eyeing them for the roles. That doesn't mean these actors got the roles. Not sure if meetings have taken place or offers have been made. Hence, the rumor stamp pending offers and further confirmation. Of course, if Bean is playing the role, the God of War won't likely live to see the sequel.

More rumors concerning the time period the Wonder Woman movie’s setting are being reported by Heroic Hollywood. Where previous reports have suggested that the film will take place during the 1920s, the latest suggests the film will go back even further, with the first half taking place during World War I. The second half of the film will then jump to the modern day.

Rumor: Villain, Director and Release Date for MAN OF STEEL 2

Brainiac-Man-of-Steel-091415-Dragonlord.jpg

Rumors have been swirling that George Miller, 70, will direct the Man of Steel sequel for Warner Bros., but El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood has chimed in by saying that the Mad Max: Fury Road director hasn't yet decided what his next project will be. Though, it is supposedly his for the taking if he wants it.

Besides the Man of Steel sequel, Miller has reportedly been offered Dark Universe (also known as Justice League Dark), too. The team-up film will feature DC Comics' supernatural heroes Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, and Deadman. It was being developed by Guillermo del Toro, but he departed the project to begin work on Pacific Rim 2.

When might we see the next Superman (Henry Cavill) solo film? El Mayimbe says it is looking like it will either get a 2019 or 2020 release. And when it happens, who will he battle? Brainiac! It would mark the supervillain's cinematic debut, though, he was supposed to appear in Tim Burton's defunct Superman Lives.

The super-intelligent alien from Colu, created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino, believes knowledge is power and will stop at nothing to obtain it. He is known as the "Collector of Worlds" as he seeks out new civilizations, shrinks down city-sized samples and bottles them. Once he has extract all of the knowledge and technology from the new world he destroys their world.

2nd Trailer for Ryan Coogler's CREED Packs an Emotional Punch

Creed-Michael-B-Jordan-091415-Dragonlord.jpg

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Creed, director Ryan Coogler's new installment in the Rocky franchise which also serves as a semi-reboot of the long-running series. Michael B. Jordan stars as Adonis Johnson, the son of world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. When Adonis decides he wants to follow in his father’s footsteps, he heads to Philadelphia and lures the one and only Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) out of retirement to help him train.

No one will ever take away Rocky Balboa’s place as an American icon, but Adonis Johnson looks like he could be a worthy successor. Jordan’s talents as an actor seem to be on full display here — no surprise, considering Coogler helped Jordan get some of the best reviews of his career in Fruitvale Station. And the premise seems like a smart way for the franchise to transition from one lead character to another without making it feel forced.

This new trailer gives us a fuller look at the film, and while we already knew it looked pretty great, who knew it’d be so emotional? This really does feel like the best next step in this franchise, and it feels like Coogler and Jordan have found a way to reboot the series while still maintaining the Rocky core. The film also stars Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, and Anthony Bellew, and opens Novembers 25th, and.

Rumor: AKIRA Planned as a Trilogy with Chris Nolan Involved

Christopher-Nolan-Akira-091415-Dragonlord.jpg

Akira is one of those on again, off again projects that has haunted Hollywood for years. Word that Warner Bros. had rights to adapt Katsuhiro Otomo's classic manga and anime first broke in 2002, and news about the movie has faded in and out occasionally ever since. Since then, it's been announced that Akira's still happening with the movie being handled by Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, and Sons of Anarchy screenwriter Marco J. Ramirez penning the script.

Den of Geek has now heard from a source close to Warner Bros. that the studio is planning to make a trilogy of films based on Akira. Most intriguingly of all, the site is told that Christopher Nolan has met with a previously attached filmmaker within the past three months to talk about the project. Jaume Collet-Serra is no longer involved with Akira, which chimes with a story by The Hollywood Reporter back in June.

It was recently announced that Nolan's next film is out in July 2017. As ever, it's a project shrouded in secrecy. Could that film be Akira? It's a far-fetched notion, perhaps, but its positioning as a summer film certainly suggests that Nolan has something major in store, and a big-budget adaptation of Akira could fit that bill. And while Nolan has the kind of industry clout to make just about anything he wants, his prior relationship with Warner - and his history with Leonardo DiCaprio on Inception - might add weight to the Akira theory. On the other hand, it could be that Nolan's involved as a producer rather than director, as he was on Man of Steel.

Rachel McAdams Confirmed She Will Star in DOCTOR STRANGE

Rachel-McAdams-Doctor-Strange-091415b-Dragonlord.jpg

Rachel McAdams will star in Marvel’s Doctor Strange opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, the actress told TheWrap Monday. Cumberbatch is set to star as Dr. Stephen Strange alongside Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is being courted for a villainous role. Scott Derrickson is directing the comic book movie, which is slated to start shooting in November. The film opens on November 4, 2016.

McAdams’ involvement has been rumored for weeks, and the actress has not been shy about confirming she had discussions with Marvel as early as July. In August at Disney’s D23 fan convention, Marvel boss Kevin Feige said that Doctor Strange will “continue to push the boundaries of [Marvel’s] cinematic universe” following Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. Feige didn’t have footage to show for Doctor Strange, which doesn’t start shooting until November, but he brought a video of concept art from the film as well as a videotaped message from Cumberbatch, who apologized for being unable to attend D23.

McAdams is coming off of Season 2 of HBO’s True Detective, boxing drama Southpaw opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Cameron Crowe‘s Aloha. She’ll next be seen in Spotlight, which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

First Trailer for Jon Favreau's Live-Action THE JUNGLE BOOK

The-Jungle-Book-091515-Dragonlord.jpg

Disney has released the first trailer for The Jungle Book. Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat.

Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The Jungle Book opens April 15, 2016.

Rob Marshall to Direct New MARY POPPINS Movie for Disney

2vmts2o.jpg

Disney will once again say the word "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." More than fifty years after Mary Poppins flew in on an umbrella into the hearts of moviegoers, Disney is developing a new live action Poppins movie, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Rob Marshall, who directed Into the Woods and Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides for the studio, will helm the new feature, which will also be a musical.

The new story will be set around 20 years after the tale of the classic 1964 movie that starred Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke. It will also take its cues from the book series that P.L. Travers wrote. (The original, published in 1934 is based largely on the first book. The last book in the series was released in 1988.)

Songwriting team Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who worked on Hairspray and Smash will compose new original songs as well a new score. David Magee (Life of Pi) is board to write the screenplay. As detailed in Disney's Saving Mr. Banks, Travers’ had testy relationship with Walt Disney over the adaptation of the original. But the studio is working with her estate on the new movie.

Woody Harrelson Cast as War of the Planet of the Apes Villain

Woody-Harrelson-War-of-the-Apes-Dragonlord.jpg

Woody Harrelson has nabbed one of the leading human roles in Fox’s latest Planet of the Apes installment. Matt Reeves, who directed 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has returned as helmer for the new project, which is titled War for the Planet of the Apes. Mark Bomback also is back as screenwriter and Chernin Entertainment as the producer. Dylan Clark is also producing.

It is unclear who is returning to the new movie, which will continue the story of Caesar, the evolved ape who is brought to life via motion capture by Andy Serkis. Plot details are being kept secret, but Harrelson will play a character called the Colonel. It was recently reported that Gabriel Chavarria would play one of the new characters, but insiders say his part is small.

Harrelson is currently shooting LBJ, starring as President Lyndon B. Johnson, and will be back on the big screen in the final Hunger Games movie, which hits theaters on Nov. 20. The actor is undergoing a resurgence thanks to the critical acclaim for his work on the first season of HBO’s True Detective.
