MMA wrestlers

Could you guys phathom where Kurt Angle would be in MMA if he committed after the Olympics? he Won 3 National Titles (Same three years Randy took 6th, 2nd, 2nd at a Lighter Division) I loved Kurt Wrestling in WWE but i wish he would have done it for a couple years and then do MMA.... talk about notoriaty he would be the biggest draw EVER

I wish Cael Sanderson would try for MMA, he could still wrestle in the Olympics and do MMA without a doubt... WINNING OLYMPICS = FREE TICKET TO TRYOUT

speaking of Angle he won....
2 NCAA title
1 runner up NCAA
2 USA National's
1 World
1 Olympic

So Pretty much everything BIG He was in he did well in.

from guy who was pinned by him in 1989 in like 22 seconds.
I love him as a wrestler. Kurt plese stay away from MMA. Im 36 and you ar older. My knees hurt every morning, yours must kill
Kurt Angle could only tarnish what little left of shine is on that Olympic Gold!

Angle beat Terkay in the finals in 92? Not that I'm surprised....any clue how the match went?

I think he beat him 3-2 not 100% i would have to go back and check his book..... this was before he broke his neck and was weighing like 208-212 absolute animal

I think your right, and yes he was a beast

Kurt said in an interview that he wreslted Lesnar (Freestyle) and worked him for 5 minutes... apparently that was like 2002 when Lesnar was the NEXT BIG THING in the company (what a dumbass for leaving a 7 year 49 million dollar contract)

Actually, it happened in 2001 and Lesnar just came off of being the 2000 NCAA D-1 Heavyweight Champion and Kurt Angle hadn't wrestled since 1996. After 6 years off, he still whooped a 285 pound D-1 Champion.

Angle's also the lightest heavyweight to ever win the National title at 199 pounds.

Good call i didnt really memorize his story cause Brock denies it all the time... i've been following Angle since his Olympic qualifier and I have his olympic finals match on tape (i had to stay up late for that one) he is probably the best wrestler in american history.... top three hands down (with Gable and Sanderson) so him in MMA could do NOTHING BUT do good for mma

Yea, in 2005, the USA Wrestling Federation created the top 25 wrestlers of all time with 5 in each weight class and Angle was inducted as 1 of the 5 top heavies in the world and he only weighed 199 when he won the national title and 212 in the Olympics.

John Smith is the best American wrestler of all time, it shouldnt even be questioned but many still still make an argument for Dan Gable but I think that is more of the aura surrounding Gable and also his coaching legacy. Gable is probably number two but Smith was a six time world champion and two time olympic champion, no one in the US can really match that outside of Bruce Baumgartner but he is no where near the techinician that Smith is. Angle is a great wrestler but his accomplishments fall far short of Smiths, and his Olympic medal was very controversial where many will say he should have lost in the finals.

i actually thought he lost that match. of course i dont really understand freestyle so much...

i agree that smith is the best wrestler in US history

does anyone know if sanderson is planning on going to the 08 olympics?

Jesse Taylor wrestled at Cal State Fullerton and he's already had 3 MMA pro fights. He is training at Team Quest Temecula some, but I'm not sure if he's a full time member of the actual team though. He beat Robert Sarkozi in his pro debut at 185 lbs, and has since rolled off two more easy wins in the same weight class. http://fullertontitans.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/taylor_jesse00.html

Nate Moore wrestles with Purdue, and is currently active in ammy MMA at 205 as well. [He's not the same one on the sherdog ff, BTW]. I think he's like 3-0 so far. http://purduesports.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/moore_nathan00.html

There's a couple more... I'll toss them up as they come to mind.

Who was the #1 wrestler in america all time? its all opininons... im gonna go with Angle just cause of the sheer differnece in size between him and his opponents when he won the nation titles, and olympics

Oh, and while there will always be a huge debate over who's the best wrestler ever... it's pretty much a moot point.

I think Gable and Smith were obviously tooth and nail in the PFP, best ever debate that rages on amongst wrestling fans everywhere ... It's pointless to argue a point that you cannot win [meaning that both Gable and Smith are two of the best ever, and it's basically only the personal opinions of each individual wrestling fan that seems to hoist one above the other in the PFP arguments]. Just my humble opinion on that subject..lol

Lol we cant debate but its these two! your wrong im right! hahaha I'll still say Angle just cause he was the first real athlete I followed in any sport... from NCAA to olympics he is my hero for sure
