COLE KONRAD!

Ah its splitting hairs between those two, i mean the finals match last year came down to a double overtime ride out. Konrad is just so damn big its tough to score on him even if someone has more skill than him, for example last years national semi finals cain velasquez was pushing the action and outworking konrad, had a quickness and techinique advantage in my mind but was unabl to take down the monster of a man.

As far as Schlatter, he just seems to be less aggressive this year, i think he was tight and the pressure forced him to keep matches too close. I also think that wrestling with his brother every day in practice can be a hinderance, they know each other so well and each is a bear to score on so i can imagine they could wrestle 20 minutes straight in practice with out giving up takedowns. Hopefully he comes back next year and opens it up.

Good call, I don't think he was added to the list.

Cain Velasquez: http://www.wrestlinghalloffame.org/champions/?names&wrestler=4428

In the NCAA's, he finished 4th in 2006 and 5th in 2005.

Hughes?

What about Lindland and Jackson who both medaled in the Olympics? Jackson was a 4 time all American and won the gold medal, I don't think anyone was better than him.
I'd say Mark Schultz and Kenny Monday have him beat.

Mr Karelin would've done alot of damage in MMA!!

Karelin would destroy everyone. That man is insane.

I hope Konrad goes to MMA after he gets an olympic gold medal. I don't think Askren will come over, he's straight wrestling. It would be cool to see Shlatter come over too, but he will go the olympics right out of college.

I can't beleive Shlatter lost. I was heart-broken.

Anyways, GO GOHPERS HOCKEY AND WRESTLING!

COLE KONRAD!
Arguable. Konrad beat him I believe three/four times Mocco's senior year, with the finals going into a second OT; however, I'd say collegiately Mocco is more accomplished of the two (2-1-1-2 compared to 4-2-1-1). I'm pretty sure Mocco has better national and international accolades....and for what it's worth he's ranked higher at the moment for US Freestyle.

As for transitions into mma....I'd love to see Mocco make the jump. Not only is he a *tough* guy and a great wrestler, but he's a hell of a judoka as well. He won the Jr. Nationals and placed 3rd in the US Nationals in '99.

And to add, he walked on to OSU's football team having never played high school or middle school football. That's pretty telling in terms of drive and athletic ability.

I read somewhere that Askren has some BJJ/mma training and expressed interest in competing later after he's done with wrestling.

if any wrestler should join MMA, it should be ex-Penn State wrestler Eric Bradley. he's proficient in boxing and wrestling. deadly combination. with sub defense, the guy whoop up in MW.

Really? Thats awesome. He said in an interveiw he's doing the whoe U.S. Nationals and all the freestyle shit this summer and next fall. He's a tough kid and great athelete, I think he could be very competitve in MMA.
