MMA wrestlers

Rulon gardner, even though he's Mormon and will never do MMA again.

Great thread. Does anyone know anything about Canadian wrestling? My guess is the best canadians go to the states for college.

Even do he dosen't fight in mma Kurt Angle is or was a top class wrestler!

thanks. anyone who wins olympic gold is a world class wrestler. that doesn't really help the discussion about wrestlers in MMA, however.

Seriously? It's not on TV here, so I've been watching pbp and reading the brackets, but Askren had one close match (as did Schlatter); but Ben's pinned everyone else. Has he been behind in a few or something? Also, how has Hendricks looked?

Any clue what happened to Ben's brother? He had a great season, and he's out in 2?!?
Lost all his confidence when he was stuck in less then a minute by Kurt Backes. Damn those Cyclones! Congrats to Mark Perry, Hawkeye pride! I hate to say this but next year ISU will win the team title. :(

i think that Coleman Hughes Randleman and Koscheck are pry the best of this group
Hughes?

What about Lindland and Jackson who both medaled in the Olympics? Jackson was a 4 time all American and won the gold medal, I don't think anyone was better than him.

I'm not sure about that. Scholastic wrestling in Canada is freestyle as opposed to the folkstyle/collegiate that's done in the U.S. Success in one style does not guarantee the same success in the other. Though if somebody's the best at one style, he's probably at least damn good in others.

Here is a list of as many accomplished wrestlers in MMA that I could think of with their placings in college. I know I left a bunch of guys off. Remind me and I will add them. These are only the americans with top level accomplishments. Not state champs, college placers. Olympic medalists

Sean Salmon, Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans do not have pages dedicated to them. I dont know why Salmon doesnt. The other two are incredible, but not elite, wrestlers.
I know im missing some. keep adding

Damn good job. Kudos.

It hurts when I think of Saunders and Monday had they remained in mma then. They might have retired 'champs' yesterday. I'd bet Daruckus' left nut on it.
