It's an honorary team for collegiate sports, although they now have high school all-americans as well. It's sort of like an honorary college all-star team.

The numbers differ for each sport, but there are probably more from wrestling than any other sport because of all the different weightclasses. My guess would be the Top 8 for each weightclass, but I'm really not sure.

Top 8 in any college NCAA division (division I, II, and III,) I being the best, are considered all american. top NCAA in DI are often times on the Olympic teams. any other questions aboutr wrestling feel free to ask

ow. as u can see, hughes was a top notch wrestler. he only in NCAAs because he felt bad for his opponents

Actually no, in college and high school all-american means you were a place winner at nationals - college has DI, II, III, NJCAA and NAIA all-americans high school has NHSCA and then I think they are even calling cadet and junior national place winners all-americans now...

Although there is also Academic All-American which is for student athletes who maintain certain grades whilst in college...

I wanted to mention Cael Sanderson but someone beat me to it. The guy is still young enough that with his credentials, he could be a force at 185 if he committed full-time to MMA.

He's coaching full-time at Iowa now, though, so he'll likely never even really consider MMA.

Oh, got ya. Yeah, the first part was just describing what All-Americans were in general....I wasn't being specific to wrestling.

Do you mean in MMA or Wrestling?

Lindland, Henderson, Jackson and Coleman are the best wrestlers on that list IMO. Randleman is close behind, Koscheck a little farther back, and Hughes isn't even in the discussion.

No way, Henderson and Lindland have both been olympic competitors, with Lindland winning the silver medal, and missing the gold by one point. I believe Randy was an olympic alternate as well.

Hughes Randleman and Kos were all-americans, but that's different from the OLYMPICS.

What about Rulon Gardner, if he counts.
