MMA will never have A-Level athletes

Hey mods, isn't being an idiot a banable offense? If so, please ban TS

Stipe made 600k for his last fight against ngannou while boxer Anthony Joshua made 10 million for defending his title against a bum

Speaks more to boxing fans being willing to pay top dollar for a mismatch than anything else

It's a D level sport full of unathletic bums that are content with making 8k/8k for getting punched in the face.

even the champions make pennies compared to boxing

conor makes alot more than lomachenko....

Brock as A level as they come.

He was almost 30 years old and had conparible combine numbers to JJ Watt.

Brock had a fast 40 time than the average NFL linebacker despite being a defensive end.

283lbs man running a 4.7 40 is mind boggling
When you say combine numbers I'm assuming you mean two metrics. Vertical and 40. There are a lot more to being athletic. I do think these grades, A-level and B-level are a spectrum within each as well. Maybe I should have said upper B. But in the context of a Marcus Jones, there is a distinction between the two.

It's a forum. Feel free to share information instead of responding in such an arrogant way.
Sorry dude. I definitely have asshole tendencies. I fight it, really.

I suppose I was referring to your omission of Herschel Walker in your response.

Walker was without question an "A-Level athlete" in his prime. Heisman Trophy, NFL superstar. He was old when he fought MMA, but still an amazing athlete.

Was Greg Hardy an A-Level athlete when he was in the NFL? Is he now a D-Level athelete because he fights at MMA?

Marcus Jones was A-level, but old when he got there. The other guys in the football conversation were D-level for football. Brock probably was more B-level and experience hurt him. Don't know who Morton was.
Hershell Walker was D-level?
Lesnar was B-level?

You’re an idiot.

Until you idiots can come up with consistent definitions of A-level, B-level, C-level, etc., could you please just shut the fuck up?

Exactly.

Furthermore, I would submit that if someone is an Olympic medalist, they are the very definition of an elite, or "A-Level" athlete. Someone isn't medaling in men's freestyle wrestling (one of the most grueling sports on planet earth) at the Olympics, and not being among the highest level of athlete the human race has to offer.

A fine example would be Yoel Romero.

TS: you’re mostly right, but your insinuation as to why is wrong.

A-level guys are exposed and cultivated since pre-teen age at much, much higher volume in boxing, football, football (US), baseball, basketball than in wrestling, grappling or traditional martial arts. There are clearly defined routes to the major sports and a career potential at the end. Parents enable these pathways. As for wrestling or TMA, theres is no clear path beyond college or private business.

In a nutshell, as parroted on this site often, MMA is a young sport and needs time to build visibilty, so that the pathways from a young age to professional are evidently clear.

Wow! You’re are truly filled with knowledge and insight!

Can you give me definitions of an “A-level athlete”?

You believe that globally, more pre-teens are cultivated for American Football than wrestling (including freestyle, folkstyle, and Greco-Roman)?

I would be very surprised if that were true. Do you have any support for that assertion?

Edit: Quickly, from Wikipedia: "Since 1921, United World Wrestling (UWW) has regulated amateur wrestling as an athletic discipline... Today, various countries send national wrestling teams to the Olympics, including Russia, Iran, Turkey, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Gambia, the United States and several ex-U.S.S.R. nations."

With the goal being a professional career, yes.

I don't understand why the goal of achieving "a professional career" in a sport would be relevant to the amount of athletes in a pool?

Is an Olympian less of an "athlete", or do they have less athletic ability or less athletic potential, than a career footballer? Are there less adolescents in the global wrestling pool than the NFL pool, simply because the NFL offers a career? I'm not trying to be obtuse... but I honestly don't understand the relevance of the objective of a "professional" career. The size of the pool is the size of the pool, is it not? And indeed, the size of the global wrestling pool is significant.

Appreciate it. Thanks

This thread is pretty old. I need to look back on my posts. But yeah waker was for sure an a level athelete. I sure hope I didn't imply he wasn't.

I don't even know who Marcus Jones is.

What are his 40 and vertical along with height/weight
