I'm talking about fights that really aged badly. If you give a few of your favorite fights a re-watch, you might realize that there are some that were clouded heavily by nostalgia.

One that comes to my mind would be:

Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen 1 - The shock of seeing Chael Sonnen having his way with The Spider was very exciting for fans during 2010. However, ever since Silva/Weidman 1/2 and steroidgate, that shock has long worn off. Watch that match today and it's simply Shale laying on Silva until he gets triangled. It's not a very exciting fight without that aura of invincibility that Silva once had.

Seeing this shit was amazing in 2010.

McGregor vs Aldo

Seeing Aldo losing his kicking game and how Nate Diaz choked McGregor out. The fight is not shocking anymore

Woodley vs Thompson 1 , when I first saw it live I thought it was really good, but when I watched the full fight again about a week later, I realized it was the 4th round that saved it from being unwatchable. So much staring, and both of them very hesitant and tentative.

They gave it fight of the night too, so they must have been thinking what I was thinking at the time, however on further review its extremely boring, the 4th round saved it from being a total snoozefest. Way too much staring and feinting, 99% staring and 1% actually landing anything.

This. It honestly wasn't much better than the second fight, which went almost the same way but people hated it.

Melendez vs Sanchez. I remember that being an all out war live but there's only really one round that saves it from being ass.

Man, could not agree more. Watched both fights again a couple of weeks ago. It's only exciting because Thompson gutted out the guillotine attempt when it looked over.

No shit sherlock. Fights are exciting to watch live because you don't know how they're going to end. Silva/Sonnen 1 live was a fucking nailbiter.

Rory vs Lawler 2. Never been a fan. Don't see the appeal. First 2 or 3 rounds are so bland and forgettable

I still enjoy it because you can feel the energy of the time through Rogan and Goldie

It's the same thing as couture/sylvia. Live it was amazing. But objectively, it's a boring fight.
