It's because MMA is progressive and politically correct. Tearing down barriers for short people.

I'm writing my state legislature to keep manlets out of our bathrooms

No.

You Americans just put all the emphasis on size because you probably got bored of comparing the size of your dicks. The rest of the world often relies on technique and skill.

I watched a highlight video of Muggsy the other day. That dude was fucking greased lightning.

Played in the NBA for 15 years. What a beast.

If you adjust for height, he perhaps could've been in league with Jordan and the rest. To be his size and that successful in the NBA, you have to be an incredible talent.

The rest of the world likes a boring ass sport that outlaws using hands and has cowards flopping all over.

from strawweight - heavy

No. MMA straweight max is 115 pounds. It would be hard to compete at the highest level if you were 105 pounds.

Boxing's minimumweight class is 105 max so it's a bit more likely in boxing than MMA to compete if you were lighter/smaller.

lol no. Almost all group sports get bigger individuals either height or weight wise.

Just Under 6 Feet. A review of the European soccer labor market conducted by the International Centre for Sports Studies in Switzerland collected demographic and physical data on professional soccer players, published in 2009. Their average height was 5 feet, 11 1/2 inches tall.

that is about 2 inches taller than the average european male (178cm)
group sports naturally are taller/stronger than the normal population.

Just looked up khl and ehl stats and they are about 6'1" and about 200lbs after browsing a few sites. These are just the junior leagues and the one4s who make it to the NHL are even bigger

The mentioned values indicate that in today’s elite players the average value of body height is 184.3±5.79 cm.

so hockey and soccer are bigger than ordinary individuals.
Now also consider that the WSM competitors are usually bigger in other countries
Pudz is way bigger in Poland, Hafthor was a star before the mountain appearance (made him massively known), Zydrunas was very well known, and we have Shaw who most americans wouldnt know if they seen him (except for his massive stature)

Maybe rugby where height isnt a big factor?

nope

A comparison undertaken by the BBC of British rugby players between 1962 and 2012 showed that their average weight increased from 85.7kg to 104kg, and the weight is still piling on; in 2012 England's forwards averaged 112.9kg, while today that figure tips 114kg.Sep 17, 2015

yes thats about 230lbs. much bigger than what the average person should weigh
