I favor Magny too.

Lombard is a plodding striker who wings giant overhands. He also has a very low output. I think Magny should be able to just stick and move and use that tremendous reach of his and take a decision. And Lombards takedowns come from the clinch which is hard to get when a fighter sticks and moves, ala Holm vs Rousey.

Unlike Shields, Magny can actually strike.

Hector's output on the feet always drops off heavily after about the 3 minute mark of round 1. Magny is an output based striker.

This should be a fun fight. If Lombard doesn't get it done early, I can see Magny winning a decision.

Magny became the favorite for quite a while on the betting lines. I honestly think he would still be a favorite if it wasn't for so many people freerolling after the line shift.

Think money came in on Lombard because he surprisingly doesn't look any different in his recent pictures. Most people expected a physical drop off being 38 coming off the juice.

When I was picking on Tapology it was 50-50 on user picks and the odds were pretty even, it's a close fight I picked Magny as well.

Do you guys realize they put one the shortest WW against the one with the better reach in the UFC? (lose only to Bones)

Reach: 71 (Lombard) against 80 (magny)

I'm sorry, but that is bullshit.
Magny isn't fighting cans this time - his only real fight was against Maia and Damian absolutely tooled him on the ground.
Remember how Hector ragdolled Shields who beat Maia?

Plus Lombard is on "home" ground, and has NASTY standup, unliek Magny's pillow fists.

Lombard was a small underdog on 5dimes when I placed a bet on him. Not sure if he still is.

I expect Lombard to win this one but you never know.

Lombard is

-38
-no longer on PEDs
-coming off a long layoff/ring rust
-fighting much taller, longer, younger fighter with an endless gas tank

I'm picking Magny to win

lombard has such shit cardio. Magny is going to survive and take it into deep waters where hector will fade.

if you're black and in combat sports, age doesn't mean shit.
Blacks of the Americas were picked and bred to work hard for a very long time.

Nobody should have any expectation of what Lombard we see.

Aside from running hot or cold in the Fight IQ department, he's coming off a PEDS suspension and a layoff. He might look the same or he might look slower and older.

The best version of Lombard we've seen should beat Magny. We don't know if that guy shows up yet.

Shields is a great grappler but he has garbage takedowns. I think Magnys pressure will take some getting used to for Lombard. Lombard also isn't known for his gas tank. Could be a tough fight for him, not to mention the huge lay off. It is a "home game" for him though.
