When all was beautiful in MMA...

The mystique that this man brought...

The aura under which we vicariously lived and rooted for him, every fight...

The emotionally charged and high stakes of his post-pride fights in affliction and talks and yearning of his potential bouts versus UFC heavyweights at the time...

The glory days of being his fan and defending him because we saw his greatness...

The deliverance of his dominance everytime he won despite his doubters in the face of our unwavering belief as his true fans (the demolition of top HW giant, Tim Sylvia and 1 punch KO of resurgent Arlovski on a tear Affliction, and the hail mary KO of the young and hungry, undefeated, KO artist, Brett Rogers....)

The goosebumps that we got when "Enae Volare Mezzo" played as his entrance theme music...

Oh how great it was to be alive in the days when he was the undisputed and effectively undefeated king at HW in MMA.

The days when it was a lock to simply say "Fedor by armbar" or "Fedor by KO", as a prediction to his fights.

The sheer anticipation and anxiousness of his next fight and our prayers for his undefeated streak to remain intact....

No one had that aura that instilled fear in his opponents like this man did. Every fighter knew they were in for sheer pain when they were going to fight him in his prime days (prior to Brett Rogers). No one had the answer. No one defeats this man during this time. He was the king of fighting.

These were the days my brothers and sisters... have a look... (From Pride FC in Japan to Affliction and Strikeforce in USA...).

I was a big fan of Fedor until he made a fool out of himself by losing to Mitrione. He was too small to compete with the new generation of heavyweights. He was great in his era but he wouldn't be able to compete with today's heavyweights.

Not too small, too old and too many wars. Mitrione was a game fighter but be serious.

Just as Tim Sylvia was thinking about throwing a punch, Fedor threw a bunch and ended the fight. The speed difference made that fight almost unfair.

Fedor's hand speed was there till the end, but he couldn't string together transitions at the same speed - punches to take-downs to scrambles to submissions at lightening speed !

I remember being back in Highschool telling all my friends that this chubby guy was the best fighter on the planet.
No one would believe me of course until I showed them his fights. Good times

Somehow the magic failed against Bigfoot Silva.
Hmmm..
Bet Brock wouldn't lose to Bigfoot Silva. Or Stipe. Pretty sure Cain brutalized Bigfoot Silva.
Didn't Cormier whip Bigfoot Silva?
Oh man, LHW Ryan Bader KO'd Fedor (and he's no Bigfoot Silva)

I recall Sylvia saying after that fight how Fedor's speed and power was unreal and completely surprised him.

Same my bro... Love u

I was at the Rogers/Fedor fight. A bunch of hilariously drunk Russians sat behind me.
I was at the Fedor-Henderson Strikeforce fight, and it was the same thing. A bunch of drunk Russians going nuts at the intros, but stunned silence when Hendo finished it. USA! USA!:D He is the greatest HW ever though, hands down.

Why did this thread get moved to the Lightweights forum? Care to explain Mr. Mod?
