I'm not a native English speaker and have an Oral Exam (10-15 min.) on sports and society. I would really like to talk about MMA but I can't really find any good sources.
Does anyone of you have an idea how I could structure this thing or have some good sources on MMA and its effect on society?
Any help would be appreciated :)

Could start with Gracie's shocking wins in early Ufc tournaments and the follow-up government contracts Gracie BJJ picked up in the training of law enforcement. In other obvious impacts on culture in North America: its created a newly thriving market for martial arts and mma gyms, so it's stimulated the economy with jobs; in involving more people in martial arts training it's likely promoted more healthy lifestyles; it's become a subject of consideration in combat choreography in film commonly; it's elevated the overall intelligence quotient of what is practical and relevant in martial arts as well as a heightened awareness overall of martial arts practices of many different cultures amongst the masses...

That's actually a good idea to start :)

I thought about writing if mma is decivilizing and is leading to a more violent society.
But I think that would be a pretty difficult question to answer.

I remember when Bill O'Reilly was arguing this. I was pissed because he was anti-MMA but it was weird how respectfull Dana was to a journalist he couldn't intimidate.

Well I think it is verry possible to argue that way, even as a fan. Because for uneducated people it probably is nothing more than glorified violence and there are probaby a lot of people watching it who want to use it on the streets or whatever.

For counter points, there's the topics of:
Steroids
Mafia Ties / corruption
Pay
the infamous MMA and Domestic violence piece by ESPN

I'm not trying to be a downer, just thought you'd like a broad range of topics since that can be a long time for a presentation.
