Miss prime Ben askren

Racist? Stfu

Btw Rip to your mother
Jorge is not George and Askren is doing it intentionally. Kamaru isn't hard to pronounce but he calls him Marty from Nebraska. He wasn't doing that to anyone who is white was he? Its subtle but it is there for sure.

Marty was Marty is the wrestling community
You can find many videos of him on team USA and college wrestling where he uses that name. Askeren didn't make that name up, he knew of Marty back in amateur wrestling.

Kamaru is more like a weird African character Marty plays to promote himself. He came to the US at age 6, he's not some African tribesman.

His name is Kamaru and Marty was his nickname given to him by his wrestling coach who couldn't say his name I guess?? I would guess he went with it to avoid being called Kamaru Bin Laden by the good ol' boys. How hard is it to pronounce Kamaru? He is Nigerian and has every right to be proud of that heritage. I am Canadian but my parents are Irish right off the boat and the extended family is all in Ireland. I am not playing some leprechaun character if I drink Guinness or eat Shepard's Pie. Half of the US claim to be Irish are they playing characters? The guy is named Kamaru and is from Nigeria.

Are they so sensitive or are there some significant issues with race? Ever been to the south of the US? There are some pretty strong and clear vibes in parts of the USA between blacks and whites that I have felt when down in Fla, Georgia etc. a lot different then Canada. Same thing with guns. Down in the USA guns are everywhere and it is considered normal. Up here I don't know annyone who has anything other then hunting rifles and I have never seen anything like a machine gun outside of the movies. Your av says you are in Vegas and I bet you know a lot of people who have guns. In 2018 in Toronto there were 51 gun related deaths and Toronto has a population of 2.93M
while Clark County had 450 gun related deaths with a population of 2.2M. See the difference?

Do you go around dressed like a leprechaun drinking Guinness with a pot of gold at press conferences, because that's exactly what Usman does with his Nigerian Nightmare gimmick.

Even foreign fighters like zombie or Zhang don't go around in traditional Asian tribal garbs, that's why it's even more ridiculous someone as Americanized as Usman does it. He's like a parody of himself

Yeah, 5 years ago Ben was such a dynamic athlete with great striking. Oh wait. He's as good as he's ever been.

Frankly I would say that is more of an American thing. Do you have a problem with Cyborg doing her face paint at weigh ins? How about Colby doing his MAGA gimmick? If Askren called Zombie of Zhang Ping Ching Bong would that be OK? Ka-Mar-OOO isn't so hard to say and that is his name. Same thing with Hor-Hay and not George. He only does it with non white fighters and he does it for a reason. Unless you think it isn't intentional and he really can't pronounce non white sounding names for some reason.

Who cares? It's clever and funny. He sure as hell makes fun of white people too. Even if he didn't, I wouldn't care. Like I'm supposed to give a shit or be offended on someone else's behalf because this dude said something that could be perceived as racist? As if racism is some unpardonable sin. As if it's worse that Ben mocked a guy over his dumbass name than Georgie assaulting another fighter? Truth is, casual racism is funny. Everyone enjoys it. Perhaps, try to be less of a self-loathing dork.

Yeeep, that's me. I was really surprised that Ben wasn't able to control Damian on the ground. His performance blew my fucking mind and forced me to rethink everything I know (or think I know) about MMA.
He got me too a bit. Like I'm not surprised Maia was able to submit him when he got a good position because Ben sometimes gives them up to come out on top in scrambles, but I thought that if Jake Shields could play conservative guard passer on top and control Maia for enough time to win rounds, then Ben would be able to do fucking something. I wasn't optimistic about his chances at a high level in the UFC before he came in, and he's under-performed even according to my expectations haha.

No, you don't get it. It's more clever than you think. Jorge went by George. Everyone called him George. Now, he's Jorge. This shows a sort of "fakeness" about him. Ben saw this (correctly) as an opportunity to get under his skin, and it worked. Same thing with Marty.

Another thing, why is it only whites/Americans who have to pronounce stupid names correctly? It's funny when a Brazilian says Joe Hogan but heaven-forbid you pull a hard R on Royce.

buzz off with your anti-white nonsense.

Not self loathing friend but good use of multi syllable words. It is a little different when its not your first language and your accent is the reason. Pretty Sure Askren's pronunciation of Portuguese names and the language in general is as bad as Big Nog's english. Has nothing to do with being white it has to do with being an ass which Ben is. If a black guy was doing it it would be the same to me. Never heard of Jorge Masvidal calling himself George. Perhaps he wasn't correcting people who said it wrong all of the time?

Also wondering how you can say anything Askren did to get under Jorge's skin worked? Was Askren's goal to get into the UFC record books somehow? That would be the only way it worked.

I wish we still used horses and buggies too, man. the old days. lol

Askren was never a power wrestler, but a chain wrestler first and foremost. He relies not on strength and explosion, but on technique, getting close and dirty and grinding his way to positional control through calculated transitions and consistent pressure.

Maia is an awful match up for him, since he also is a close quarter grappler, a much better striker, and basically without par on the mat. Ben was forced to strike for longer than he has had to, and he is so graceless that his energy expenditure on his feet is abominably bad. He can wrestle you for 20 rounds, but he can't box for two without getting winded.

That's a problem he will not be able to solve at his age, and since not everyone is susceptible to being controlled from the inside, I think Ben can have only limited success in the division. Indeed, WW is abnormally stacked with people who have high level wrestling and solid hands, not to mention are far better athletes than Ben.

I personally think he should retire, unless he is fine fighting mid tier competition.

TS you seem like an actual fan of the sport and don't see to just shit on fighters, so props to you.

Source on 450?

All 62 towns/cities combined, there were 264 murders in 2017. Can't see it having jumped up nearly 200.

I'm Canadian myself, and I hate how sanctimonious this country is. Per 100,000 residents, Canada has a violent crime rate of 1,143.5, about triple that of the United States, which is at 368.9.

So yeah, not as many people get shot or murdered, but how is that human trafficking, how's that assault, how's that burglary, how's that rape, how are those drug addicts?

I've been all over this country from Thunder Bay to Winnipeg to Regina, and I'd much rather take my chances in the States. We hardly punish our criminals, and we have three news stations that all parrot the same comforting lies the government gives them in a press release.

Too bad Ben had to be literally retired from fighting before Dana decided to sign him.
