1. Vitor made a mistake by pulling guard.

No, he was pinned against the fence and his lower legs were being eaten by Souza. He was going down, just a matter of time. He correctly chose to pull guard on his terms, rather than fall into an entirely devastating position. It was the best bite of a shit sandwich.

2. Werdum was reckless and gave it away.

Almost every god damned fight you'll see a fighter chases a combo. I saw it multiple times tonight. I see it every event. Miocic actually bent over and touched his ass against the fence. Werdum thought he was hurt and chased a combo. He got wrecked by a back peddling punch, which is amazing in itself. But now, something that happens every fight is stupid and he was reckless. Who reasonably expects even a HW to generate KO power while back peddling that hard?

3. Werdum's momentum helped the KO.

No. Forward movement does not replace the power generated from a properly planted punch. Punching power is generated from the legs up. Also, it was almost a hook, not a straight punch down the middle.

Point 3 is complete bullshit. How does adding more force to the equation not help the KO? WTF?

Not getting into all of it, but forward momentum leaning into a punch makes the punch stronger. That's simple physics.

3 is bullshit. Go watch Bisping circle into that h-bomb

Completely agree.

I could be wrong here but I'm pretty sure your face meeting 240 pound mans fist in the opposite direction at full speed would make it a lot worse

This is just me though

3 being bullshit kind of makes 2 bullshit

And since it's always a mistake to pull guard against Jacare, I'd say this is complete bullshit.

We all passed 8th grade!! Good for us.

Vitor should have fought as hard as he could have to resist. Instead he chose to flop. I love Vitor but this was his biggest wtf moment ever if you ask me.

My gif won't load so you'll have to watch it there. He hits the jaw from the SIDE. You're retarded if you think forward movement replaces the power generated from a planted punch. Absolutely retarded. His forward movement did absolutely nothing to help the physiology of that KO. You don't have to be a physics professor to understand this.

It's like hitting a baseball. You hit a ball a lot farther off a fastball than you do a change up if the swings are exactly the same.

Edit - better example is two cars hitting each other. The difference in damage between both cars going 5 miles to hour 30 miles to 70 miles an hour is huge.

Walk into a wall. Now turn every light off so that you're in complete darkness and do it. Huge difference.

The punch you don't see coming is ALWAYS more devastating than the one you do.

Complete and utter bullshit, anyone with even a slight fighting knowledge knows that if you run into a punch it makes it much worse. Have you ever gotten out of the couch and sparred? LOL

Watch the replay and tell me how what is almost a hook equates to forward momentum contributing enough power to KO?

What is it with Stipe and tripping ? He trips or falls over almost every fight.

"If I call them retarded, I'll look smart".
That's not how it works stupid.

Point three is dead wrong

Knockouts on the chin like that (as opposed to the temple or back of the head) are based on the way you can snap a person's head at the neck, almost like whiplash. Moving directly toward the object which is coming in the exact opposite direction and landing on the chin is going to increase the force applied to it and the way it snaps the head back and forth. Sleepy time Werdum time
