Mir: "If we stand for 25 minutes, I'll come out on top" - Hunt: "I won't be submitted"

All the pics of Mir show him looking really slim. I think he does plan to strike, but on the outside and keep out of Hunt's range. No infighting or standing in the pocket. He's either outside throwing jabs and straight lefts or he's shooting for takedowns.

Even a slimmed down Frank isn't gonna have 25 minutes of it in him, but he could have more in the tank than Hunt does. If it gets into round 3 and both guys are tired and Frank is just "less" tired, that's when the takedown, guard pass, and sub or tko could happen.

A good main event as I really don't see how its going t go but I think Mir is most likely to win if its done early. I think if it goes into rounds 2,3 then Hunt will be more efficient and damaging.

That being said, Hunt is getting on and I think well past his prime (both are), but Mir takes this with a TKO

yeah, cause loads of people have knocked out mark, and frank has never been ko'ed,oh wait.

They're not fighting in the past, so none of that shit matters

so why bring all this up?

Derp derp Mark Hunt got KOd by a MW, imagine what Mir will do to him, derp derp

Well once you've been KOd, that means you don't have a "chin" anymore, so ...
and franks been ko'ed 7 times.

A good shape Mir can definitely be real dangerous on the feet. Hunt should still be favored in a strictly stand up contest, but Mir definitely has enough pop in his shots to stun Hunt if he isn't careful. If it hits the mat though with Mir in top position, I see it going bad for hunt.

Mir is going to have to dive at Mark's knees within 5 seconds of this fight starting or he's going to get walk off KO'd.

Mir has to be trolling. He had better just pull guard right when he gets into clinch range with Hunt.

I was thinking about betting on this fight. Mir has looked horrible in every single fight he's been in for years. Hunt actually looked good and nearly Ko'd Werdum. I don't see Mir doing really anything to hunt. I'm a little worried about the 25 minutes though. Both fighters are going to gas so hard it's hard to tell what will happen lol.

Weird that this fight is in Australia. It screams Mexico City or Denver.

There's about as much chance of Hunt subbing Mir as Mir knocking Hunt out on the feet. If it stays standing Hunt is putting him out in the first 2 rounds

Because it's a message board where you discuss things.

Aaaaaaaand?
and it shows his chin isn't great.never would have guessed it was a message board if you hadn't told me.

Damn shame Hunt never came into a fight in good shape. With his athleticism, I can only imagine how much better he would have been if he wasn't carrying around all that excess fat. A 240 or 245lb Mark Hunt could have been something special.

He's Samoan. He's predispositioned to carrying around extra fat.

I love these guys but its kind of funny that this is a current day top-10 fight in the UFC

This is going to end 1 of 2 ways. Hunt by brutal KO or Mir by armlock.I'll be rooting for hunt but think Mir will win via armlock.

Mark has improved but let's not forget he has been armlocked in MMA by:

Sean McCorkle
Gegard Mousasi
Hidehiko Yoshida
Josh Barnett
Alistair Overeem
Fedor Emelianenko

Mir has been KOd in MMA by:

Ian Freeman
Wes Sims
Pe De pano
Brandon Vera
Brock Lesnar
Shane Carwin
Junior Dos Santos
Josh Barnett

They're both been in or hovering around the top 10 for a while, and have only lost to other top 10 fighters recently

Oh they absolutely are top-10, not disputing that at all. Hell Hunt was fighting for the interim not all that long ago.

I was commenting more on the state of MMA. A couple years ago people would have written them off in favor of younger 'new breed' fighters that have mostly come and gone
