I think this is a good time to talk about the Mir curse since Mark Hunt is facing him the next weekend.
If Hunt wins, can he survive the curse?


When a fighter defeats Frank Mir he is known to lose his next fight. Latest victims are victims are Andrei Arlovski, Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett. Only survivor of the curse is Daniel Cormier (and Brock, but both him and Carwin had defeated Mir as their last opponent. Brock lost after winning Carwin)


This is a joke thread.
 
Mir curse didn't affect DC because he wasn't the most recent fighter to beat Mir when he fought his next fight.

It seems you guys aren't familiar with article 5 section C of the mma curse handbook which explains that fighters who decision Mir do not suffer the effects of the Mir curse. Cormier got a pass for that reason.

Hunt would be wise not to swing for the bleachers. Ride it out homeboy.

Are you saying that Arlovski and Overeem losses are just a coincidence? I think not!

I am. The criteria has been around for years though, before the arlovski and overeem losses. It is possible the evidence should be re-reviewed
 
Seems like all HWs alternate wins and losses these days. Two-fight win streaks get title shots.
 
To recap:

Ian Freeman - Lost to Arlovski via TKO in just under 2 minutes, cut by UFC

Marcio Cruz - Lost to Monson, got knocked the absolute hell out by Arlovski, cut by UFC

Brandon Vera - undefeated before Mir, goes 4-7-1 afterwards

Brock Lesnar - falls ill, beats Carwin after a hellacious first round, but then gets mauled by Cain and Overeem

Shane Carwin - 0-2 afterwards, injuries pile up, finished by Lesnar and utterly demolished by JDS

JDS - Fought Cain twice afterwards. We all know how that turned out

Daniel Cormier - seems to have been relatively spared. Did lose to Jones and will probably lose to him again tho

Josh Barnett - elbowed into oblivion by Travis Browne, who then mocks him with his own throat slash. Submitted later by Ben Rothwell.

Alistair Overeem - also seems to have been spared. Something about not finishing Mir via strikes seems to keep the curse moderately at bay. Did lose his next fight, but he has won 3 straight

Andrei Arlovski - Mir curse eventually says "fuck it" and doesn't care if you beat him via decision or strikes, Arlovski gets TKO'd by Stipe in a little less than a minute. Or maybe this fight was treated as a Mir win? ;)
